Billies@ 2.5, 2inch blocks, front hitch, xrc 8k winch on portable mount, 10 sub behind seat, Memphis amp, pioneer touch radio, cobra cb, 235/85/r16 duratracs with black rims, high lift jack, tint, remote start alarm, hella 500 lights, 59" curve led bar, snorkel, expo trailer with rat, car seat
I have been running the billies at 2.5 for 6 years now and quite happy with them. Nice thing about them is you can pick 0,.85,1.75,2.5 for lift and they are cost effective. On the rear though I ran blocks for a while as I’m cheap and then upgraded to new springs when I got a topper and some weight in the back. Like others say roll with what you want. The cost spectrum is large when it comes down to suspension.

You could probably sell your factory stuff for enough to recoup a decent chunk of what you’d spend on Foxs or Kings.

I’d say for 95%+ pavement and the rest trails, probably rebuild them every 30-40k ish miles. There’s a chart on fox’s Website of what they recommend.

As nice as the factory suspension is, I’d say either run the small spacer and maybe space your bumpstop to compensate for it, or pull it and put something of comparable quality. Ie.... Kings or fox's.

This is true. I’ve got a lot of potential ideas floating around. But I’m about to buy a car and park the truck for a bit so idk that I wanna undergo such an extensive project until I get a house with a garage to leave it parked in. If I tried to SAS this thing in my mom’s driveway she’d have a fucking aneurism, then recover and kill me.

Pretty sure his wife knows enough to keep me and Dave in a very painful and awake, but unable to move or make noise, coma-type state.

Edit: and you, for suggesting it.

In other news, I have 1200 miles on my brand new 4.88 ECGS gears. Those consisting of about 10 miles of AOP mikes. This week while driving home from work I heard, what is now very recognizably blown gears, and tonight dismantled and confirmed to be true.

I called ECGS and they immediately said send them in and we’ll take care of it.

But, now I’m concerned. Were they just setup wrong? Or, are 35’s simply to much for them?

Gideon ran 35s on 4.88. He went up to those 37s and was still on 4.88 I believe. Shouldn't be an issue.

Bad setup, I'd say. You can kind of see the pattern on the top of the gear teeth. Very high. The broken tooth, on the inside also makes me think bad setup.

You are definitely not the first one to run 35s on that exact rear end. Hell, a few people run 37s on it and in a heavier tire. Maybe request a picture of the gear mesh before install on this next setup?

That set up looks fine to me on one tooth you can see the oval in the middle of the tooth hard to see though. The best was is to get some marking compound and check for yourself where the pattern lay. Is that a factory e-locker diff.? Did you run the proper break in procedure? Any major wheel hop when you were at AOP, like being stuck and hitting it hard to get over an obstacle? How long ago was the AOP trip?

But the tooth next to it broke on the out edge so a pattern that has the pinion either too deep or not deep enough into the housing wouldn't make sense because the tooth contact would be the same stressing the same part of the gear teeth on the ring gear.

Didn’t really do anything crazy at AOP. The truck just did so much better didn’t really have to push it.

I went beyond the breakin period and changed the fluid twice, once at 300 miles and again at 600 mikes. Took me nearly a month to get the 500 mikes on them too.

I agree, you can see a bit of wear out near the end of the teeth. Much more prominent in person, but if you all noticed it in a photo, makes me think they were set up wrong. Maybe a shim to many?

ECGS has already sent me a label and said they will get me a replacement ASAP. Unfortunately, I’ll hsve a brand new ..... breakin period.
