So I did my CMC today. Just the cutting and grinding, I have the plates coming and will find someone to weld them.

My question is has anyone had issues with this "spine" looking piece? I rub it when in reverse at right before full lock. Heating the plastic up does no good because there appears to be some sheet metal behind it. Are you all cutting off the plastic and cutting that sheet metal piece?

I believe that's called hammering the pinch weld then seal it up with rtv. So your answer is a BFH!

That plastic is covering the pinch weld. This was done to mine to solve that issue:

I removed the plastic fender liners completely though.

    Serious?
I tried that half heartedly since I'm not sure what is behind there.

Edit: ahh. Pinch weld...ok...hammering away tomorrow.

Or try having it aligned and move the caster forward a bit

I'll go the hammer route as I just had it aligned and put it forward + 3.

Also depends on offset and backspacing of your wheels.

Reason why I went 0 offset with 4.5 backspacing for 33s. No rubbing at all after a small amount of CMC

These TRD wheels have a 4mm offset. Not sure of the backspacing. Also added 1.25" spidertrax spacers.

Also depends on who does the alignment. I believeon the lower control arm there is two bolts to adjust, you want the bolt closest to the cab adjusted for longer and the bolt closer to the front shorter, that should move the tire slightly forward. I have 3.6 caster and even with my trimming I am still rubbing some.

Any lift? I forgot to mention I have a 2” (settled to 1.75”) front lift with .75” lift at the back

your going to want to flatten the pinch weld all the way up the wheel well not just where it's rubbing now. If you wheel it your probably going to end up cutting your tire if you don't
