Simple question. I'm building my truck right now to be a desert prerunner and one of the things my back end needs is some legitimate offroad leaf springs. From what I can tell 1 is really popular on here and 1 is really popular in prerunners. That being oldmanemu on here and all my buds with built trucks run deavers. Only thing is the deavers are a lot more expensive, I'm talking 400 for the emu set and 750 for the deavers roughly. So given that price bump, are the deavers worth it, and and what do you guys think of the oldman emu? How well do each ride, hold up through hard and fast terrain and how durable are they? I appreciate any help and opinions.

Also for anyone who wants to follow/checkout my build check out my youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiqZHFVc-wXcJo7A1rpUIdA

I have have the deaver j59 pack on my tacoma. However we put a OME lift on my girlfriends land cruiser and I've been really impressed with the ride quality. I think if I were doing it again I would try the OME springs.

I think what you'll find is that the OME kit is popular as an upgrade to OEM (carry more weight, get a bit of lift). Seems to perform well in those situations. But, as an "off-the-shelf" leaf spring, it has compromises - it's trying to fit the needs of many.

If you want something specific to your situation then you go with a custom leaf pack from Deaver or Alcan. With those guys (at least with Alcan, where I got my pack), you can tell them how much additional load you've got, how high a lift you want, etc. - and they build a pack to those specs. That's why it costs more - but in the end, you're buying performance.

Most off the shelf springs seem to be geared towards 4x4, not pre-running. If you're going to be doing a spring under, I'd seriously consider custom springs. I'd hate to be doing 90mph on springs that were designed for 4x4.

I'm surprised they don't make a kit, though...

I actually looked around and camburg makes a kit but it requires custom shackles, and leaf spring mounts. So basically some fab work. Not a bad option at all though. I was planning on putting triple bypasses through the bed and fab some shock towers anyway.
