I swear I am not reading another post until I get my lift and tires on. Each thread i read takes me in a different direction. I plan to lift my truck in the next month or so, and add tires as well.

Projected lift: OME 885 or 887 with nitrochargers (soft ride maybe), Full Dakars in rear (Med if available), LR UCA's.

Will I need the carrier bearing drop installed? Is there any disadvantage to installing it?

    Keeping the TX/Pro stock wheels.

For tires I am stuck with a couple choices for size. To be honest I spend 85% of the time on the road with no serious off roading, just getting to hunting camp on no maintenance roads. I can't make up my mind between the Cooper ST Maxx, Toyo Open Country, or KM2's all in the 255/85/16 size.

For me treadwear is more important than performance. I should also mention that I live in PA, so I want a tire that performs well on wet/snow conditions. Cooper's have my vote, but I have heard mixed reviews with longevity. Some claim 20,000 and some claim more than 60,000 miles. Anybody have experience with any of the tires with a similar set-up. Thanks in advance

I have read the thread which changed my mind on the size of tire. There is tons of good info in that thread, but it is getting so long that it is hard to pull the info I needed from all of the pages. There was another good thread, but it was 3rd gen I believe. Then I couldn't keep the gen 2 and 3 threads separate in my head so I wasn't sure if 255/85/16's would rub on Gen 2. I am hoping not because the gen 3's can clear with no lift.

Long story short, I wanted a thread with the info I need, and didn't want to read through 25 pages of stuff I didn't need.

I believe from the skinny on skinny post that you are running the toyo open country and pretty much just got them. If I am wrong can you speak to the performance/longevity of those tires? Those seem to be the largest in diameter. I see you have an aftermarket bumper, but did you rub mud flap, front bumper, fender flares?

I really like the looks of them and if I remember the price is a little better as well. With 20K on them can you estimate how much life is left in them? I really want something that'll get close to 60K. I know that most likely means a hybrid or AT, but don't want an AT.

I am going in for a R&B tomorrow, I will note their measurements and report back. I dont think they will get 60K. I would be very happy with 45-50 out of a mud tire.

Here in NW Montana, the AT IIs are possibly the best selling tire around. They seem to have really good longevity, in addition to good all condition performance.

Many of my friends run them.

255/85's will rub when suspension is compressing on no lift

Cooper's are best all around IMO

    No CB drop needed

Ripped off all four mudflaps. Scratches all down both sides 6112’s up front on 3rd notch 5100’s in back with Toytech 1” block Skids & sliders from SOS Concepts I got rid of the 1” block and put on Wheelers 1 1/2” progressive AAL. SPC UCA. Be sure your standing on the drivers side when reading the instructions! I swapped sides so many times that I can swap UCA’s in 15 minutes. I put in the 3/4” spacer to eliminate the Taco Lean, and just got my 4th alignment. Traded the OEM rims for 17” Sport rims and a bora bora 1” spacer. I got my Firestone 285/70/17 MT2’s. Pelfreybilt gas tank skid and hi-lift jack should be here Friday. Looking at bumpers, but I think they will wait for next year. So far I’m happy with my build. I’ve done it all myself, leading to a lot of cussing and frustration, but it’s all mine.
Was the cab mount chop necessary for this size tire?

Update to everyone that has posted in this thread to help me make my mind up. Everything is ordered and the remainder will arrive tomorrow. I am taking the truck in tomorrow for install. It is raining like hell today or I would take some pre-measurements. Maybe when I drop it off tomorrow.

OME full kit w/ 887 coils and nitrocharger 90021 (softer valved) shocks
    Nitrochargers in rear as well
Dakar full medium duty leaf pack in rear
    SPC light racing UCA

I will post before and after pics in a few days, as well as alignment numbers.

No Scrubbing here on my build running this tire wheel setup. This is my second build with this setup and you can't go wrong with it. Off road it is much more predictable also on your lines with the skinny rubber.

Dropped the truck off tonight so they can start first thing in the morning with the install. Figured I would post some before pics. They aren’t the best but I wanted to know the before and after numbers.

I have seen this on about every thread worth reading. What does sub’d or subbed mean?

That I figured out eventually. Luckily the topics I needed were probably the most popular in TW so I was able to find the information I needed. Now hopefully I can figure out a way to compile the info from a few threads I started in the beginning to get a comprehensive build thread with all the info I used and answers to my questions for future builders.
