Dude, that sucks. We need to come up with a way to make it harder for that to happen

Same thing happened to me 2 years ago, I was part of at least 5 trucks that were drilled in the area. Fuckers drilled the tank.

Whew, I skimmed your post and thought you used a wet/dry vac to recover the fuel :bananadead:

Glad you were able to save it, can't imagine AV gas is cheap either.

Really? That surprises me with where you are located. I lived in the Phoenix area for 5 years for work and my co-worker had it happen to him and my buddy in Gilbert had it happen to him there as well. Good thing all you guys strap up down there

I've tried that before on a gas tank I punctured on a rock... May get you off a trail but doesn't work long term. Gas starts eating at the jb weld and ends up leaking around it and failing

My initial thought is “hey this is a great idea, plus emergency cash!”

But in reality the shit swillers would probably take the cash and still drill the tank. I like the HF monitor though!

If you put a pouch with money in it behind the gas door then the same jackasses will regularly treat your truck like an ATM.

Yeah, the monitor was a simple fix- it has a red light so someone would know they triggered it, and it does go off occasionally when a cat jumps on the truck, but the batteries last for weeks if you store it under your seat when driving the car so it doesnt go off. The working distance between the trigger and receiver is great, too.

Update: got it to toyota, they sent me these pics. This is after the firefighters plugged the hole. They said it would cost $1400 and I have to go through insurance. There goes the money for my new wheels

For that much you could buy the long range 45 gallon fuel tank

They must be charging you for a new fuel pump and all???

I'll follow up and ask about that, he just said he could order the parts and have it in hopefully tomorrow. Either way i will have to go through insurance which now i'm kicking myself for choosing $1000 deductible for comprehensive.

Anyone know if i change my insurance policy now and wait a week if i can maybe get away with the lower deductible? Lol
