Tonight was another great Fermentation Fridays. Kingsley hosted with quite the variety.
    8.jpg

We started with a pilsner from Mikkeller. Great dry finish with a slight perfume aroma.
    1.jpg

Next up was a home brew that Kingsley made. It's a wit beer with pomegranate. I've had his wit beer before, which was fantastic. This version with pomegranate was interesting, but had a unique finish that we couldn't figure out if it was associated with the fruit or a problem.
    2.jpg

Third up was from Dry River Brewing. This was supposedly made by harvesting wild yeast from the Boyle Heights district with petri dishes placed around town. This was very tart, sour, and fruitful but not that complex.
    3.jpg

And then we went over the Atlantic with Boon Kriek Mariage Parfait! If you've never had this beer, then drop everything and go get it. Very complex! Simply incredible.
    4.jpg

Fifth up was from Crux Brewery out of Bend, OR. This was good, but not great. It was waxed, capped, and corked. But the aroma and flavor had a lot of cork to it and as for a flanders red seemed a bit weak.
    5.jpg

And then another home brew from Kingsley. HOLY CRAP!!!!! This was bottled five years ago and is a blend of four different home brews of his. The blend comprises a 120 minute IPA clone, a russian imperial strout, a barleywine, and a belgian dark strong. Mother fucker!!! The aroma threw us off a bit, but the flavor was incredible and stands up with the best of them.
    6.jpg

And finally another home brew from Kingsley...an imperial brown with coffee. Damn! He knows how to make great beer. Maybe someday I'll show pics of his home-brew setup. He knows his shit and his awards as a home brewer show it.

Brewing tomorrow for the first time with my girl. Although it’s gonna be mostly her doing the work. She chose an imperial sweet stout, I think. We’re going to her friends house who has all sorts of fancy brew equipment. Should be a good day.

One of my favorites. I’m an old school deep Ellum lover. I got to be one of the very first few to try it when they started kegging it waaaay back. Love it :D

After dropping 800 on a Lego set...time to drink! I'm a privileged* motherfucker. Side note on beer quality vs. going big: I had no idea that Lagunitas or Anderson Valley had been bought (probably a few others, too). Been drinking them long before they sold out and long after I figured it out. Never noticed a drop in quality in any way, shape, or form. Take it for what it's worth. I always say that I will never sell out...but I've seen what I thought were incorruptible people go after the money at any cost in the end.

Juicy Bits. It seriously tastes a bit like orange rinds. Although my palette may be a bit confused since I had a sour earlier.

I, for one, have no issues with a "well seasoned" glass. :burp:
