    Hmmm so how I'm reading that... the plate cover I have is still legal, at least in my interprutation. It's slightly smoked but the larger reason I have it is to block UV from damaging the plate (which they do rapidly without I've found). My plate still looks new because of it...

    What would be your personal take on it... would you cite for it?

    Keep in mind it's a cam phone pic, fairly dark out, and it's got a layer of dirt over it lol....

    I also have one on my Z so... I'd hate to drop them (no anti reflection or anything on them just a plastic cover). Thanks for the response man!

    In looking at your pic, I personally would not cite for this. I ran it by a former Motorcycle cop and he stated that he would have a hard time citing as well, IF IN THE DAYTIME. He looked at it and said he could clearly see the plate, but at night it may be difficult. he said why am I worried about the civil violation, when you are possibly trespassing in the pic. I laughed at him...

    Bottom line, you stand a 50/50 chance with cops and the Judge. I apologize for not giving you a clear definite answer. The cover looks like a borderline issue and I can clearly understand your concerns about fading. I've personally seen the faded plates you're trying to prevent. Might be an articulatable answer if you find yourself in civil traffic court. Good luck Jake. It's a good looking pic by the way

    Haha, thanks man. Maybe I'll look into upgrading the plate lights to a brigher LED (though not too bright of course).

    The pic was taken out in the Rolling Hills OHV area so... I'd hope it's not trespassing lol. It was one of the main offshoot roads, never crossed through any fences other than the primary entrance from 87. :D
