    I knew something wasn’t right from the start when I bought this taco. But, I went with it and said “must be how they are now”. I’m so stoked OVtuned had the huevos to do this. My 2003 Tacoma 4 cylinder could smoke my v-6 thru third gear with 30” tires and a lift. If you are scared to take a leap of faith and not tune (especially when they give you the stock tune with the kit) then don’t do it. Guys with the kit will continue to smile and reflect back on those days when we put up with our brains competing with 2016 Toyota’s Jiminey Cricket on our shoulders of how a Tacoma truck should drive when we know something doesn’t add up. Then we will remember...maybe wince ...at the thought of how we paid $780 to have total control of how our rigs operate (not to mention changing it at a moment’s notice) and now drive like a $40k rig that has a Lexus engine as it should. Programming is design and science.

    Boom.

    Can someone tell me what the minimum speed the 1.03 tune will shift into each gear in D and S (no ECT)?
    For example, my stock truck in D (and S):
    2nd = 9 MPH
    3rd = 15
    4th = 24
    5th = 31
    6th = 42

    2nd = 9 MPH
    3rd = 20
    4th = 35
    5th = 45
    6th = 55

    thats about what I see

    Depends on load/throttle. Agree with above for normal/average acceleration. Under no/light load, I will drop to 5th at about 35-40mph. And hard accel full throttle it will hold gears thru about 5k rpm.

    Yeah, I am looking for the absolute minimum.

    It may have been mentioned in here but I can't seem to find it.... How does this mod compare with the latest re-flash from Toyota dealers? (TSB-0077-16)

    I have a late 2017 model TRD Off Road that I assume has all updates and still has crazy shifting at inclines. I ordered the OV Tune and just received hardware today. Haven't received license key yet so haven't been able to flash to compare but many others have positive reviews.

    No comparison. The tune blows it away. And the dumb learning is gone.

    Heck, someone dragged their desktop out to the garage to load the tune. Where there is a will, there is a way! They set it on a chair next to the truck.

    Nope, someone passed the test a few days ago. I think it was even with the 91 octane.

    My 2017 was bought new in Oct '17 but according to what I've heard the TSB-0077-16 revision is not on any of the new trucks. It is a dealer installed re-flash. I had a 2016 Limited and I will admit that it was more sluggish and seemed to have more shifting issues than my 2017 TRD Off Road, but it still has much room for improvement. I will watch the outcomes you all have from this OV Tune carefully. Thanks for all the info!

    Mine was tested in TN so if you’re on the west coast not sure whether different standards but in Nashville specifically they appear to be pretty stringent and mine was tested via tailpipe, OBD, and gas cap/evap and no problems whatsoever

    Plus - though subjective, my truck ran “nasty” stock. Like I didn’t even want my daughter to be outside on that side of the truck if it was running... normal now. Runs as clean as my wife’s CRV without a smoky mess. Easy to see the different if you watch someone start up their stock truck next to mine on a cold day too...

    Does the purchase come with 87 and 91 octane maps?
    I’m interested solely in running 87 at the moment.
