Yes, I’m that guy wanting that 285 look and to not kill my mpg. Terras seem to be the lightest 285 I can find. This is a daily driven pavement warrior (40 miles RT).

Who has the Terra’s? Thoughts on them? Mpg comparisons?

    Thanks bruhs

Your MPG will be better if you go skinny. 255/80/17 - still gets you 33"

why the hell you getting a bigger tire if you are concerned about MPG? Further more why did you buy a Tacoma if you are concerned about MPG? they have been since the dawn of time notorious for shit mileage.

Terrible Tire, Ive stupidly had multiple sets across vehicles and they have all been bad. Wear quickly and badly, loud and the mpg sucks.

To me, 21 isn’t horrible mpg for a truck. my 5th gen 4runner was getting 22. I just read stories of guys getting 14mpg after 285 tires, where some are still claiming to get 20 with them. Just trying to find that tire that doesn’t weigh a shit ton. Terra was one of them.

those guys getting 14mpg most likely also had a ton of shit in the bed #wannabeEAF, live at higher elevations and drive like assholes, so take what they say with a grain of salt.

Honestly its hit or miss and depends where you are. I havent seen anything above 17 in both my tacomas. Youll want to look at a couple of allterrain tires and look at the load rating also because that will make a bigger difference. My .02 is really to stay away from anything Nitto makes.

I live by the beach and drive fine. My truck went to 14 from 17 when I switched from stock to 285

    Got 285/70/17 Ridge Grapplers

Got 19 mpg on the way home from work today cruising at 65mph

But I agree, why’d you buy a truck if you are worried about MPG.

Have had Terra Grapplers on 3 trucks, great wear, and very quiet. 50K+ in miles on all sets

What kind of lift are you putting on, to be able to fit that size?

Also see you are changing to a 16", from your 17" sport wheels

I’m on 265/70/17 terra’s and lost a couple mpg’s. Little louder than stock but not too bad. Grip is decent offroad, but wet roads are a little iffy.

Back in the mid 80's, I had a 1980 2wd Hilux with the 20R 4 cylinder engine, 4 speed manual trans. I put 100,000 miles on it over a 10 year period, never got more than about 19 MPG, Same as I am getting now with my 2017 OR with the 6 cylinder, 6 speed manual and stock tires.
