So after reading about it for 2 weeks and learning all I thought I needed to know to do it myself, I went ahead and attempted a BHLM today. Everything went fine as far as removal, got the lights inside the house, screws out, ready to cook. Placed light in oven on bath towel so as not to melt the lens,pre-heated the oven and began to cook these babies.

    1st bake - 250 for 12 minutes didn't work.
    2nd bake - 290 for 15 minutes didn't work.
    3rd bake- 290 for another 15 minutes didn't work.
    4th bake - 300 for 10 minutes..........the pictures tell the rest.

Good news is no one got hurt and the house didn't burn down. Also good is that my wife is away for 4 days, so hopefully with enough ventilation and Febreeze I can get the acrid burnt plastic smell out of the house.

Bad news is now I have to buy a new oven and a new headlight housing. My out of pocket for these is going to cost just as much if I'd just gone ahead and bought the PRO lenses from a dealer for $1300 outright.

Perhaps I needed more beer and less heat?

I can't wait to hear the shit I'm going to catch for this.....blast away!

Glad your house is fine and yourself... did you try baking them on a towel?

Side note extremely happy your house didn’t meet the same fate as your headlight.

The fact that you took the time to take a picture while your oven was on fire is priceless!! Glad everything is okay!

I will never understand why someone would intentionally mutilate a perfect factory part to make it look mildly "cooler." I had a buddy once blow torch a hole in the back of his glass VW headlights to add purple parking lights.

Yes. The towel is what initially caught on fire and started the whole thing. I was in another room and came back after it had been in for about 7 minutes, so the fire had already gotten pretty aggressive by then.
