    So I am trying to put axle shims in my Dakar leaf pack today and ran into a problem. The u bolts are not long enough. I can’t even get the nuts to thread on.

    When I put them on the first time I really had to crank on the nut to get the end of the u bolt through the nut. Upon further investigation I realized the these u bolts are OME part number OMEU53 (168mm). Dakar’s are supposed to use OMEU53A (185mm). OMEU53 is the stock length replacement!

    This is crazy dangerous. I can’t get in touch with the company I bought them from yet and I am holding their name until they can respond. However I am extremely pissed.

    I am contemplating removing one of the overloads to get it back together. It looks like this would give me enough space to safely install so I can go to Land Between the Lakes next weekend. Thoughts?

    Where are you located? We have Sport Trucks, 4WheelParts, and Southern Offroad companies here in central Alabama. I'm sure one of them carry extended U-Bolts.

    I wouldn't recommend that one. That style sits on the bedsides, and not really over them. It will leak into the bed around the edges. That's how my first shell was styled.
