    Hey everyone,

So I was warned not to read too much TW with buying a new truck as it makes you look for issues! Of course I didn’t listen! Read a ton on “taco lean” threads then naturally looked for it.

So after taking delivery of my ‘18 yesterday I noticed the left rear seemed to sag ever so slightly on the driver side by about 1/3 of an inch. Full tank of gas. It’s not noticeable unless you’re looking for it.

So, with all the taco lean threads I’ve read, I still can’t find a concrete answer. Is this a completely normal thing with the third gens stock? Some people claim it’s only with aftermarket and some stock. But I wonder if they measured or just eyeballing it. It’s all pretty unnoticeable so if it’s supposed to be like this I can live it... but if there is an issue I need to know so I can take it in. Even tho they probably would think I’m crazy lol.

It's typical to have a stock lean but also watch it when the tank is near empty and see if it changes. stock leafs are known to be soft from the get go. also check if your bed is straight too. that happens as well.

First, imma say that there is no 1/3s of an inch. Now I'm gonna say that that much is a noticable amount

A lot of vehicles have a lean to them. Pretty much cause the tank, battery, and driver are all on one side.

    This ^^
It almost sounds like Toyota fixed it . Full tank down 1/3 in. , Half full = even ? , Empty = 1/3in. high ?

.3”... better? And I’ve read people say theirs sags an inch or more. On some parking lots I couldn’t even notice it.

Or this went over my head and you were making a joke that 1/3 (number) itself is noticeable lol

Bed looked straight if I compared it to roof lines. (If that’s how you check?)

Thanks everyone, so sounds like it’s a normal thing. I’m gonna measure / look at it when close to empty too.

Why do people get the 1/4” spacers to “fix” it, if it’s normal? Seems that would mess with what Toyota intended... unless they just have large tolerances for this kind of thing. I read one guy on here was off by 2.5” and the dealership said was within spec.

Lean was present on my truck when new. Installed a fiberglass cap with racks at less than 2k miles, liner and accessories and it is a solid 250lbs+ in the bed. At this time there was a good 1/2”+ lean so I tried the 1/4” top plate spacer on the driver front however it didn’t do much for the rear. Then I tried the 1/2” plate between the spring pack and axle and voila! Close as it can be now.

Toyota didn’t intend to have a lean. Remember, some countries have driver on the other side so it kinda evens it out. Also, when truck is empty of fuel, it’ll be really close to level.

    Unfortunately, this is true.

If a .3" lean is that important, you need to trade it in for sanity (other TW members, not yours)

Just kidding- good luck with the new ride!

I only noticed because I looked extra hard. Bet if you pulled out the tape measure you’d find a variance. Or not. Either way sounds like it’s no biggie

Since the lean is normal, did it just annoy you?

On almost an empty tank my driverside rear sags a little more than half an inch and is very noticeable. I’ve just decided to deal with it I have no idea what else to do
