Lol. I had to sand down the initial layer to pack some resin into the folds and gel the larger gaps. Really not picky about this looking pretty as you can tell. Not noticeable unless you're up close anyway. Plus I had no idea what I was doing this first time around, driver side should be much cleaner

So I aimed my headlights as low as possible today in hopes of not blinding @allmotorrex anymore :p No promises though

Also, "fabbed" up a maxtrax/hi lift mount

Dash cam installed, checked the tub clearances and I just barely touch at one spot, went through my camping gear, bought some RedBull... should be ready for LBL!

What are you rocking for headlights? I got some Chinese Rigid 5x7 sealed beam ripoffs that actually aimed pretty well recently but I realize that's not an option for later front clip 1st gens.

mine was so confusing haha. my model has 2 bolts on each headlight and I thought one would move it sideways but they both just moved it vertical. Took my dad and I like an hour because we were so confused:rofl:

Why did you decide to do fiberglass instead of steel? Just curious.

Partially out of curiosity, partially because my welder is total shit and wasn't having any of the sheet metal tub haha. The fiberglass is a fun experiment though, if it works I'll keep it and if it sucks I'll borrow a better welder and do it the way everyone else does it

At this point I'm rooting for ya, an interesting experiment for sure. How did you clean the edges where the fiberglass and resin adheres to the body? I'll have to do this soon enough, although to a slightly lesser extent what with long travel pushing everything out a bit.

Grinded it all down to bare metal with a die grinder if thats what you're asking. Then I screwed in a metal wire mesh and "stitched" in Bondo Mat with twist ties with the paper cut off. I applied the resin to the edges on the bare metal first so I would have a frame to work with. Driver side came out way cleaner than the passenger side because I actually knew what I was doing this time haha
Also, on the driver side i just notched out the area of the floor that was in the way and moved it back some instead of cutting it all out, letting me retain a lot of the metal there and just fill fiberglass around it. This worked out way better than the passenger side for the fiberglass method. 10/10 would recommend. Took about 5 hours for this side including paint

The waterproofness and durability of the fiberglass will definitely get put to the test this week at LBL with all the flooding recently. Stay tuned folks

    I got boots :D
and the floor really isn't as brittle as I thought it'd be. Took a 5lb hammer to the passenger side as a test before it was done and actually had a hard time cracking any off the edge. Got some hope for this idea
