Those are exactly the same cheapy switches my dealer installed on my wife's Rav4. 3 position rockers. Looks like you are stuck my friend, the console has been drilled.

That looks super clean. Makes me want to do mine now. I didn’t know the 5 bank switch panel existed. I was going to buy the switches out of an 08’ bodystle Altima as I used to have one and I know they wouldn’t look bad and custom mount them myself. This would make it a lot easier lol. Also it’d give me a chance to wire in a legit quick charge instead of the dumb usb setup that came from the factory.

It's the panel from the trucks with the tech package. The '18's have a 6 blank panel I believe since the rear window switch got moved down there. I bought mine shortly before that was released or I would have got one. I think the panel was like $130, so it is more expensive than the seat heaters.

It isn't the end of the world, but it's clearly the quickest, easiest way they could have done it. I prefer my setup if i'm honest.

Yeah definitely is. Honestly it’s not terrible but you’d think they would give you something better than a $40 eBay kit. I will say it works pretty well so far but time will tell how good it actually is

I am going to ASSume that factory pads aren't much different than aftermarket. The fit and finish of the panel/switches is where factory excels. I have no problem using the pads but I will as most have alluded to try and get a 'factory' style switch in the upper area near the crawl control etc.

I also get to do this in the wife's Corolla. Guess which one I intend to practice on!

I agree, but the reason a/m switches sometimes are placed in areas like that is because the back side of them stick out about 1.0" to 1.50" The other reason is there can be a metal frame that holds the dash and panels together right behind the plastic.lt would be too difficult to drill through it.

My '17 SR5 had basic heated seats for driver and passenger, on/off. My '17 TRD Sport has the 3-level heated seats.

The panel where they put them comes out fairly easily. The dash panel is the last piece to come out after removing just about the entire rest of the dashboard. Ask me how I know! They took the easy way.

Trust me. When it gets really cold and your heater seats are doing what they are supposed to do, you aren't going to care what the switches look like.

I guess that's the reason why the Canadian Tacoma's are more expensive

...^^^... Good advice ... the dealer will usually tell you the subs that they are using too.

You will not have the dealer involved in case of a warranty problem though.
