That's why I'll be running both the fridge and cooler.

Fridge for food cooler for drinks
Also depends on the length of trip.

Besides fridge works good for me at the trailer too. Often don't have enough space so I can bring this and plug it in in the shed

    I edited that post.

But dry goods is best bet for food. If you're worried about spoiling

Dry food, plus prep cooler before leaving, also get some dry ice. My ORCA cooler, lasts 10 days, so I am not worrying too much here.

u can also make some ice tubes? cant remember exactly what they are, but apparently they work well. tube of abs filled with water and caped on each end. apparently adding a little salt in the water helps? its pretty much the same as using frozen water bottles lol

I installed mine in front of the firewall on the the passenger side and also ran a hose back to the rear passenger side storage .I left the hose long so it's easier to connect IMG_1498.jpgIMG_1501.jpg

Im not worried about spoiling. My food will be good for the trip, my cooler can hold ice for 10 days, i just want to see how that is in real life. I know if i have beer in there etc im not going to get anywhere near 10 days so i have ti find another way. But yes, im think first half will be cooler food, then dry food last bit.

I have the woods roto moulded one. They claim 14 days I got 4 days before the ice packs were soft but still really cold. And that was with opening it about 3-4 times a day.

So you figure at that point maybe another day or two of it still being really cold

When I tested opening once I day it held ice for 6 days

Ive thought of that, its just not as refreshing as a nice cold beer on a summers night.

I miss it but still like the zr2, my bank account and girlfriend say that the zr2 is staying for the forseeable future.
Plus i keep spending money on it getting it ready, today i made up two new aluminum skid plates, ( aluminum is so nice to work with) replaced the factory GM oil pan one. Idiots only covered half of it and left a section open for unknown reasons, and then built a trans skid. So now im covered front all the way back to the transfer case. Still undecided about gas tank skid, its driver side at the back and higher than the frame, id have to be in a very bad spot to be hitting it, peace of mind to have but I don’t see it being an issue plus I haven’t found a good way to fab one up and no one makes them so I can’t copy anyones design

What colorado, zr2? The base model doesn’t come with anything more than a littlr piece of metal, not even worth calling it a skid plate. Aftermarket it slowly catching up. Not even close to tacomas and I doubt it will really ever catch up.

But see, you had the skid and still almost had a issue so... ill get around to it but its not high on the list, if i add it then it will put it below the frame so the skid will take all the impact over the frame which isnt ideal in my mind

For what it's worth I have the skid, and it has a nasty scratch down the centre of it . Easily could've been a leaking gas tank .Still not sure where it even happened though

For what's it worth, I didn't have skids and never touched anything with my gas tank, on the contrary I cracked oil pan under steel skid plate lol

Exactly, cause majority of the time the frame will take the hit before gas tank. But like joe said, it happens. Just have to be mindful on the trail.

Let me ask you this, will you use a gas tank skid on the new third gen?
