Almost every single leafs announcer in the last 10 years has been completely biased to the leafs. Get your head out of your ass.

 

So you’re saying Leafs fans should be happy to have an announcer who is biased against the Leafs? If you want delusional, that thought is it.

I just wish we could get someone who was neutral at worst. I didn’t love Bob Cole either but the new guy is a piece of shit. I’m guessing he’s @OZ-T ‘s brother.

 

Weird, I think Hughson is one of the best there is nowadays (Bob's a decade past his prime). Canadian announcers take pride in calling games with neutrality and having heard him interviewed and interview over the years; he just comes across to me as huge fan of the game. I could be biased though, we had him out here on the coast doing Canuck games for years.

The guy fell in love with the Canucks and has a hate on for the Leafs. If you're a Canucks fan you're happy to hear him. If you're a Leafs fan probably not. I'm sure they will dump him in a year or two once the fanbase starts to turn his games off. You saw what happened to most of the HNIC crew last time a few fans weren't thrilled with them.

I thought Harry Niel kept Cole in check for the most part. After he left the bias was tough to handle. Announcing games really got good during that NABET labour thing. Announcers babbling away while the cameras were panning the fans, popcorn guy, anything but the game. Lol!

 

Harry was awesome, my favourite colour guy ever. You must be a happy camper with the way the Jets are looking.

 

Harry was a one of a kind. He could insult Bob without him even getting it. Yeah, Jets are playin’ a good game. Next couple games should really be interesting.

Hes not biased against the leafs... Hes just not as passionately pro-leafs as all the other announcers you guys have had.

If your standard is for the commentator to cheer when the leafs scores, then of course Houghston will be 'against the leafs' because he does that to pretty much every team. Its why hes so highly respected as far as broadcasters are concerned regarding inherent bias.

 

My favorite broadcaster was Peter Mehr, first ballot hall of fame broadcaster. He cheered for Flames goals, but he also cheered for everyone else. Listening to him was a treat locally and nationally when he did the Olympics for CTV. He did mostly radio but his TV calling was great too.

Maybe I’ll warm up to the new broadcast team but right now I’m not impressed. Neither are most of the Leafs faithful. You know what happens when most of Canada’s hockey fans don’t like someone on HNIC right? Again, I guess we will see.

 

Although I never really like him, back in the day Don Wittman would be doing hockey Saturday, curling Sunday & Olympics Monday. Pretty versatile announcer but he used to piss me off constantly telling me how much time was left in the overtime period.

 

This whole notion is retarded , the whole HNIC broadcast is Leafs biased , thats all they talk about over 1/2 of every broadcast , every fucking weekend
