Yeah that's about my budget for one, too - I figure $1k would be nice for the whole project as long as I don't mess up too much material lol. I'll still be saving some coin. I've also seen guys out their benders on engine stands - that's only $50-60 at HF.

JD2 model 32 is what I have for a bender. Not the cheapest, but it can be converted to hydro later on

I thought about the engine stand but figured it would be just a easy to build a complete stand by the time I figured out how to adapt it. I have it on casters so that i can roll it around the garage and then used machine pads so that I can level it wherever I am working. I’ll try and grab a pic this evening.

I believe SWAG makes a hydro adapter for the Woodward although I made my own.
I was looking at the JD2 but our shop has an account with Northern so I was able purchase through them and hide it from the wife.

Yep it's about $250 for the swag kit and the ram from hf. I did that to mine last year and mounted it to n engine stand

I had that ironton dry cut saw and I loved it. It broke after a year and a half though. Hope it lasts longer for you

What broke? I’m just a small time guy. If things pick up like I want them to I’ll upgrade if it goes down

Inside the motor there was a circular metal piece about the size of a a nickel that broke and crumbled and wouldn’t spin the blade anymore. Assuming it was a gear of some sort. I have the Dewalt Multicutter dry cut saw now. My only advice with your saw (or any saw for that matter) is to cut softly and slowly as to not put too much strain on it. It was a good saw for the length of its life. In the last 3 Years I’ve built close to 150 sets of rock sliders on the side of my full time job. That saw helped built half of them and a bunch of other projects so I think you’ll be cool for a while. If you have to upgrade, the dewalt one is nice and $40 for 5 year extended warranty

For some reason I never investigate the forums I just look at things that pop up on the home page. Apparently I've been missing some good stuff and will have to change. I need to read through this whole thing as I'm sure there have been some good discussions
