That sounds badass. Where on the cluster would the light go?

In the middle I believe underneath where you'd think a prndl would be.

Huh. Interesting. What do you have to do to get the center lock to work?

Huh yeah it was on my grey truck before the slushbox was replaced with a fun stick. The center diff lock light on my cruiser is grouped with the front and rear locker lights, they aren't words like the taco though, they're pictograms

The OD OFF light is blank on my 5-Lug, makes sense since it's a manual. Before I came up with the designing a custom lens for the 4WD position lights in Photoshop I was planning on buying one of those I think they were Tercel? Inclinometers that showed a pictogram showing you what drive mode you were in.

Yeah the Tercel had those and the 4 runner had just the clinometer. Pretty much all of the linear actuators like the diff lock, center diff lock, add actuator, work the same though. Pretty simple circuit with wires for sensing stops.

    No worries at all.

It's hard to say how much lift there is on the front b/c I'm comparing to the height I was running on original (16 year old), OEM springs. Compared to that, I'm about 3" higher lift than I was (numbers at the bottom of this post, plus I went up 1" more when I put on the 255/85R16). I think that's about 1" over stock b/c the OEM stuff had sagged ~2". I'm definitely running my coilovers at a lower height than I received them from ToyTec, and they'd said that I'd get a 2.5-3" lift if I installed them as shipped.

Of course, the bigger tires also give me more ground clearance, and that's what I was really after was clearance.

It's built into those year transfer cases called the VF3AM. It works in 2 configs, j shift w/ a push button, and straight push button. Just pushing the button will put it in AWD so will actuate as needed, then pulling the stick back w/ button pushed is true 4H w/ center lock and of course neutral then 4Low

That's what they look like, plus the center diff lock button at least on a cruiser which has a very different case from the runner but has the same AWD, 4Hi, 4Low functionality

I’m just trying to decide how big of a spacer I need to buy to put in some stock shocks while I get my kings rebuilt.

I want to fit 255 whatever’s, with stock Ucas and not have tire wear due to misalignment.

I can hit stuff with a hammer pretty good, just trying to plan ahead.

So it's possible to have an AWD Tacoma?

That would be the day. I wish our trucks had the option for three diff. locks. These trucks were from a different era where trucks were just becoming daily drivers and recreational vehicles, and everything was bare bones.

Eh not really many trucks have ever come with AWD anyway, mostly an SUV and Passenger car thing anyway.

I'd just wait till you have your Kings. Then get the bigger tires (and if you're getting new wheels). That way, you'll only need to hit stuff (and trim plastic) once. I found that I had to do it twice, since I changed wheels and that mucked with backspacing and clearances.

Tires will have to happen before Kings. The wheels will stay the same between the shock changes.

I’d prefer to have the kings set to around 2 1/4” but i don’t think the tires will fit....

I know you know this already, but...

Technically, the Kings (at any height) won't affect whether the tires will fit... When lifted, all the Kings are doing is pushing the wheel down in travel when you're on flat surfaces. When you flex, the wheel still goes through the same motion up, until it hits a bump stop (or wheel well). So, you need to clearance the same amount, regardless of the coil you are running... Something that doesn't hold the wheel well as high on flat ground will just show you more quickly what you need to clearance :).

Dumb moment for me, I’ve read that 10000 times and still didn’t think about it.
