Can I get any recommendations? I want a bike to ride on county roads and occasionally take on trails.

    Yeah.
Started off as kind of a joke, but honestly this is not a terrible deal: https://www.walmart.com/ip/29-Mens-Schwinn-Boundary-Dark-Green-and-Black/153585860

Actually, don't buy that, but it kind of depends on how serious you are. The above bike looks to have decent construction and parts for a good price and would work fine for the occasional casual rider. If you are looking for more performance and quality, starting MSRP new is going to be $750 and up. Something like the Trek Marlin 7. Once you get into that range, though, I would recommend a plus bike for comfort and stability, something like the Trek Roscoe 7, but that is hitting the $1K mark new.

You'll get a much better deal if you go used. You can probably get a quality couple-year old bike from a big brand name for around $500. Doesn't sound like you need full suspension.

You get an offer for $800, take that and run.

Ran it by my wife, and she pointed at an unfinished project looming in our back yard. Didn't say a word. Didn't need to.

    I'm out :-/

where on earth do you fit that many people in/on the truck? I mean the box looks to only have room for maybe 3 people and it's an access cab. Honestly this could beat a circus clown car

Most bikes I've seen in a taco was 21 in Grand Junction.

7 in the bed, 6 on the shuttle rack, 4 on the shell rack, and 4 on the roof rack.

Had to have a 15 pax van behind them to fit all the people.

I was reminded yesterday at Eagle Mountain that if you knock on the devil's door long enough, eventually he's gonna answer you. Gotta find a new helmet now, and WAY better brakes for my fat bike. Tektro Aries are woefully inadequate to stop a fatbike at any real kind of pace.

Skipped my head off a series of sharp boulders, dislocated an index finger, and jammed a pinky (on the other hand); dented my back rim pretty good too, but fixed that with some channel locks last night. Then got to hike out about a mile to the truck.

Only marks on my body are a cut on my index finger and a scratch on my forehead. The scratches on my helmet started directly at the helmet lip above my eyebrow. That was the most scared I have ever been before/during a crash, because I had enough air time to see the boulders coming and think, this may truly be the end.

Been searching for options starting yesterday. I'll def look into it. I'd looked at the saints and SLXs pretty heavy.

Search may be a little slow. I'm at work today typing with index and middle finger, and can barely hold my coffee cup.

I love my XTR's (and all Shimano brakes in general), but be cautious of running them on a fat bike. Mineral oil unfortunately doesn't do well when it gets pretty cold unfortunately. It's the only reason I have mechanical Avid BB7-S MTB disc brakes on my fattie.

Thoughts on Magura brakes? I have found some good deal on their 4 pot models.

Oh nice! I know the oil has had issues so I steered clear, but I do have a set of Deore's sitting around the garage I can try out if I want to. May just have to mess around with those.

    Yeah.
I've been happy with XT-level brakes. Plentiful and relatively inexpensive.

And dirt cheap ar Performance Bicycles when on sale. Cheaper than a pair of pads and a bleed job from the local shop. I use them on my M9, DH bike no problems at all, like them more than my Formula R1's.
