It's been about about 14 days now since I took my '07 4x4 DC in loaded with landscape rock and the dealer agreed it was saggy and a "rough ride". I figure I'll give till next Monday before bugging the service manager about it.

When they ordered the parts they told me they were 'back ordered' at Toyota and it would take a week to 10 days. Does this sound right? I'm kinda curious how long it has taken some others to get the TSB completed. My trucks coming up on 36 month so the warranty is expiring...I'd absolutely hate it if the parts didn't come in time and I missed getting this done.

Also: the TSB says my truck should get the shocks; I read a post that suggests they are the same Bilsteins come on the TRD.

Is this true? if so: the Sport or the Off Road?

Bili's all around, front 5100's at 1.75", rear TSB w/AAL, 265x75/16 BFG AT, Wheelers steelies Type B 4" bs, LEER cap, Tinted, Relentless hybrid sliders welded, Cab mount chop, Plastic trimming, Sock retros, Mirror lift, Satoshi with old school emblem, WeatherTechs, Mudlaps gone, RedLine hood struts, Fumoto valve, Tailgate clamped, Console organizer, Mobtown Offroad Front Recovery Bar
This afternoon I stopped in to talk to the dealership service manager...was referred to him by the sales guy.
After a bit of resistance by the service manager to place the order, it was finally done. During a phone conversation (that I was listening to), I heard that the parts are on nationwide back order. He came over to tell me about the back order but said he'll have them by this Monday. Don't know how they can be on nationwide back order and have them by this monday. But whatever, as long as they get on sometime soon I'm happy.

Got mine done 2 weeks ago. It took 4 days for them to come in.

There was someone else who posted a thread last week about being fed a line about a backorder as well.

Ordered on Thursday, installed the following Wednesday. They could have done it Tuesday, but I didn't want to leave the truck key with another service writer instead of the person who ordered the parts.

    +1

I took my truck in Saturday morning and had it back by Monday afternoon. They actually had the parts in stock, which totally caught me by surprise. This was about 3 weeks ago.

    ...for the prompt responses.

But now I'm getting a bit worried. They've entered the inspection and note that parts were ordered in the Toyota service record (www.toyotaownersonline.com) so it is documented. But it's been two weeks so far and no word from 'em.

Could I have problems getting this done? Should I just contact Toyota, since it's in their 'system'?

Should I take it to another dealer? They aren't the selling dealer since that one is WAY to far to take it to.

I really don't have a lot of time till warranty's up, else I wouldn't be so worried about it...

Just give them a call to get an update I would say. Ask them when they expect the parts to be in.

Would almost make a person think they used the parts for your truck on someone elses (who may have bought their truck from them) and are reluctant to reorder them.

Gave 'em a call and they had parts in...made an appointment to take it in to do the job...whew, that's a relief.

I've already read this dealer is pretty good and knows the whole job includes springs and shocks but until they're done won't know for a certainty that experience translates to my vehicle too.

Gawwd...there's just WAY to much heartburn getting dealers to do their job!

On our 09 sport it was only the springs that were changed and they had them in just a few days. They said it would be a few weeks but it only took a few days.

I took my truck in on a friday morning and left 2 hours later with it done. I guess some dealerships keep the parts in stock.

Sansone toyota in woodbridge NJ has the parts needed sitting there if you want to take the trip up. I went their for inspection they ordered and parts were in the next day, this was this past Tuesday. The mechanic came off as a jerkoff to me and wanted $700 extra for 5100 install. So I went to where I purchased my truck and they will have the truck 1 1/2 days like someone else posted to be completed with 5100's going in for $200 [IMG].

I'm also pretty sure that as long as you bring it in under warranty the first time, then they have to honor the warranty. Even if you end up waiting for parts and the warranty expires. If you file the compliant or service request before your warranty is up, you should be good.

At least that's how it was when I was a service writer...good luck!
