Use the 3M Command™ Canvas Hangers strips. That stuff is amazing.

I picked up fiberglass shell for my full size F350 crewcab with a full 8' bed. I used 27 packages of the 3M Command™ Canvas Hangers strips to drive from Oahu back to the Maryland and it made the trip. As a matter of fact, when I sold the truck 3 years latter it was still holding the cap to the truck. AMAZING STUFF.

OK, I MAY have embellished that story just a tad but that stuff really does work well and comes off clean when you want to remove it - no residue, no paint peeling.

Bucket seat swap is done, so nice having a center console and cup holders now!

 

It was definitely a nice day to be out working on the truck. I replaced my intermediate steering shaft.

OK Maryland Tacoma owners, and anyone else reading this thread, Sub-Par, one of our TW family members from NY, just lost their home to fire - a total loss. Thankfully the family wasn't home but the two family cats were lost in the fire. If ANYONE wants to help them financially PM me and I will tell you how you can do this. 100% legit.

 

I definitely need to do that. But wouldn’t your steering column lock if you simply took the key out and locked it? Thus not needing to strap the wheel?

 

It would still allow it to turn enough to be off by a few splines. Even with all those precautions, I’m a hair off. My steering wheel is cocked a bit to the right when driving in a straight line. Luckily fixing it should be as simple as undoing one bolt, moving it a spline over and rebolting it.

 

I used the super strong automotive type velcro for the brake controller in my now gone Tundra. You will think you are gonna rip the dash trim off with that.

 

Oh yeah, I snapped a pic of my balljoint like we were talking about earlier in the thread. These are only a few months old and we’re fluid filmed. Not a huge deal, but it’d be nice if it didn’t happen.

 

Also, could have paint marked the shaft and couplings...then matched the same spots on your new one with your old one.
