Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Really glad you posted how happy you are with the tune and bigger tires with a lift. I myself am waiting on mine and I have a lift as well. I will post my review as well when I get mine tuned and driven 100 miles or so.

Just recieved my dongle and tune..I got the serial number from PCM flash..but it also looks like the serial number the software listed is engraved on the dongle itself which makes things pretty easy
now waiting for my email reply...

 

My Surface pro only has 1 USB port. Can I use a hub to connect the obd dongle and usb?

Quick question, are you able to wipe the data log on the ecu so if I have to bring the truck in to the dealer for any reason they won't tell me it's my fault? Because the ecu will keep a log on what's been done to it like flashes or adjustments

Thanks! I managed to get everything downloaded and ready to go for when my dongle arrives and then realized I didn’t have a second usb lol.

 

The flash is undetectable by the dealer.

 

You can flash back to stock any time. Doing so clears the memory - the miles since cleared will clear to zero, but this is the same thing that happens when you disconnect your battery which is very common.

 

i probably will take my laptop on the road with me this week! I have a pretty big trip I'm leaving on tomorrow but I have a full tank of 87.

I was so excited to see OVT put something on his website about selling a basic tune that you can customize yourself... that is gone from the site now. (When he mentioned something about it here people were telling him it was a bad idea. STFU!)

@OVTune , is self 'tuning' still happening... eventually? I so want to be able to customize the shift parameters to make an ECO mode... ECT, and S is always there when you need it.

 

it's definitely still happening, rather than use tunerpro or some other editor, we're making our own editor, that's why it's temporarily down

 

mat already returned my dongle key and ive flashed the ecu and tcu , now idling for a while before i take it out for a spin

 

lucky...still waiting for my kit to arrive. How long did yours take to ship?

 

Is the self tuner the surprise / secret? Or you still have other unannounced Tacoma surprises for us

 

just took my first ride in the truck with 1.03 tune and I am pretty impressed. Definitely a noticeable improvement. I just took a small drive around the surrounding areas with some hills, and traffic in the pouring rain. The truck feels lighter..the pedal response is better. It doesnt seem touchy to me in any way. I flashed the 87 tune because I still had a quarter tank of 87 in the truck but I will be refilling it with 93 so tomorrow, after a lot more driving, ill be able to give a better assessment. So far I was able to get the same MPG i was able to get pre-tune.
