Five Northern California high school students were sent home from their school after coming to school wearing shirts with the American Flag on it during Cinco De Mayo. Kiet Do reports.

I think this happened last year as well with some kids in my home town. It's BS and it just goes to show what the school officials all over california are really focused on: how to control kids rather than focusing on improving the education system.

Now some American students get in trouble for supporting their nation, coincedentily wearing an american shirt on a mexican holiday!! Hello this is America, if they are offended go home! What is the nation coming to when we are punished for supporting our on nation and getting in trouble for it, BULLSHIT!!!

Now I'd be willin to admit Karab Amabo earned that Nobel Peace Prize if he actually reversed this and made the flag shirts mandatory for everyone but his backwards ass won't so I still say he did nothing to earn the NPP and only soiled the prize for all who may have it bestowed upon them in the future.

Stupid needs to be driven out of this country and everything this country was founded on and everything that made us proud of it be put back in it's rightful place.

What makes this even more stupid is that cinco de mayo isn't even celebrated in Mexico. Ftardimus exacticus!

If you listen to the broadcast all the way through you will notice that the higher school administration reversed the actions of the local administrator. However, the kids were actually in technical violation of the US Flag Code:

    (d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery.

    (j) No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform.

When I was in school back in the late 60s and early 70s I can recall several hippie types who were sent home for wearing American Flag shirts and shorts.

Edit: here it is if you are interested:

Clothes that have our flag's colors on it does not make it a flag. No flags were made into clothes as far as I could tell.

Remember that the US Constitution takes precedence over US Code. This is why people can do pretty much what they want with the Flag.

I've always thought it somewhat ironic too that flag burning is actually recommended in the Code.

    (k) The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.
