Nah not yet. Probably won't get a chance to this week. Her assistant at work is out with a bum back. She won't be back until sometime in April so my Wife is having to do her managerial job as well as the assistants.

Finding one with a factory rear locker is worth it. You’ll spend $2500 adding an ARB.

 

I don't have any desire to offroad this. My Tacoma is for that. I just need a backup vehicle, not a backup toy.

Any reason that you're wanting a backup vehicle that averages prolly 17 at best MPG? If you are trying to be economical on your purchase budget, why not be the same on gas and upkeep? You can find a much nicer/newer vehicle in your price range. Just a thought

 

not trying to help with gas mileage, that's not the purpose. I want a vehicle I can drive when either A. my truck breaks or B. I need to do some general maintenance (like wheel bearings or something) on my truck. My desire for the vehicle is reliability (Toyota obviously, and also why I had tried with Subaru), and I simply want to like/enjoy the vehicle. A 4runner can accommodate me for local camping outings and I can mount my hardshell tent on it EASILY.

 

Just get you a 1gen Tacoma like I did, even a 2x4!

I would take one if I found a good deal but most decent Tacomas are expensive as hell too, I just like the idea of a 4Runner for the SUV benefits and being able to easily throw my hardshell tent onto.

 

What price range/mileage you looking at?

Preferred price, 3k. Probably workable up to about 4k$. I would assume around the 200k mileage range, the less the better.

I paid $3,300 for my first 1989 Toyota with 195k on the clock. It was an 18 year old vehicle when I bought it. No sense in me not being able to find similar now.

 

Well, the biggest issue with old vehicles is rubber hoses. I’m damn sure about to replace them all on my tdi and be done. Lol
