    Use the hand brake! It's great and so conveniently placed unlike in the 2nd gen.

    Your ABS is kicking in and applying the brakes lightly so you don't roll back so quick. Eventually, if you do not intervene with the brakes, it will disengage allow the truck to roll back normally.

    Thanks. But it sounded like gears were grinding almost... clicking too. Thats the ABS?

    It's using the abs and locking the brakes intermittently just enough to hold the truck from rolling

    If I had to guess its a 'feature' for if you're offroading and want to roll back a little for forward momentum. Just doesn't work well outside that setting.

    I'll have to try it again. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly as it happened once Friday. But it definitely sounds negative lol.

    He was correct, the "Manual" Off Road and Pro do not have Hill Start Assist, you must have the Automatic.

    I'm with ejewel. I get the grinding tearing up crap noise. The 2 times it happened to me I rolled back a few inches and heard the racket and immediately hit the brakes. Mines a 2017 OR automatic. I shouldn't have to use the e brake or be concerned with rolling back. Seems like an issue here.

    I for one like it, saves me from having to worry about shifting to reverse on a steep incline and rolling back too fast.

    Yes, the traction control/abs system similar in sound to utilizing crawl control.
