That’s hard to believe cause You can pull jumps with 717# spring rates and 600# is a firmer ride.

Any ideas on what i could do to put more useful weight while still being able to use my truck bed? Only thing i can think of is putting a heavier ko2 spare tire(currently only have stock) and then a heavy rear bumper.

I bought a few bags of play sand to test— I put four 50 lb bags in the back, dialed back to three to reduce the sag. Still stuff, but a big improvement over riding empty.
In hindsight, I would have kept the stock springs and done a shackle flip... too bad I sold them

It's a trade off iff you need to carry weight.
With people and gear or a trailer it will ride great and not sag...
But empty will feel like a truck.. but not terrible just rough..

    The stock springs just suck....
But there are other brands if you don't need the extra weight capacity...

If you add a cap the dakars would be perfect...
Off road I think they are great, almost too soft, fine with 200lbs of gear, with 300 can still bottom out..

You can also remove and add leafs to the dakars, but you will loose lift...
Or remove a leaf and do the shackle flip to get more flex and maintain the lift...

It's all a balance, lift, ride and capacity.

    Appreciate the advice!

I've been looking around for a used cap. It's definitely a part of my long-term plan (especially now that I'm already setup to handle the weight).

I may also see some improvement in ride quality when it comes time to change tires-- currently running E-rated 285 BFG KO2s, but might try something with a lesser rating.

A few months ago I replaced my E load KO2's with Cooper ST Maxx, same size, E load, and same PSI. Big difference in the ride quality, the KO2's we're very stiff and beat the shit out of me (32f -30r), the Cooper's while still e load firm, were much more compliant.

FYI I just bought 285/70/17 k02’s in a C Load. They do sell them and would definitely recommend going that route! It took BFG awhile but they are finally selling them.

I also have the ST Maxx, great tire, very tough, great traction, e rated but still flex with the lighter trucks...
My AT3s C rated are stiffer than the Maxx..
Some tires are designed for heavy trucks, they will be too stiff on the Tacoma.

Patio stone. They are heavy and flat. Stack them. You will also be able to put whatever on top of them. Perfect!

The KO2’s are alittle difficult to get balanced right. I’d try having them road force balanced. I speak from experience with mine. It took 3 different times to balance them right and I went to 2 different shops thinking it was the first shop which it kinda was. Other wise it’s your suspension setup you may want to look into.

So after talking to toytec they are saying that my Ko2s E load range is to much for my midsized tacoma and that i should look into a C load range for a much smoother ride. Unfortunately i want to keep my ride height and aggressive looking tire they do not make C load in 275/70/17 for ko2’s, so i may have to look at other brands... or go a smaller size tire and loose lift

Pretty much what America’s tires told me. Try what I recommended earlier. That should help alittle.

Do they look exactly the same as E load?

Looks exactly the same. Well i got the 265/70/17 C load on. World of difference. Much smoother and now the little bumps on the highway are toned down dramaticly. I could see throwing some weight in the back even helping more.

Thanks. I was thinking of 285s C and E load will have the same appearance or C load looks not as aggressive

Asking because you’ve recently tried both - what is the MPG for each on your truck?
