@rlx02 thoughts on a DIYer? Willing to try this option. Whats the total time for application on this product?

Ammo NYC coating is an easier product to apply in DIY and for people that have winters it is the best protection you can use on your minus having it completly wrapped. Had it on my STI no snow broom marks not rock chips nuthin ! And Subaru owners know how cheap they paint is on this brand.

EDIT:I would add that most people think they know how to wash a car but they dont just spending an hour on youtube checking videos would result in a faster and more efficent way to wash your car. For example just using the 2 bucket method makes a huge diffrence.

start to finish both my Subaru's took me about 3-4 hours each. But, I was taking my time and making sure I got even coverage. plus the prep took the longest part of that. it can probably be done in about 2 hours, but I am over meticulous.

I'd probably take just as long because I too like taking my time. Is there room for error? How does the application process go?

the actual application is just like applying wax/sealant except you don't use a circular motion. first step is wash vehicle completely and get completely dry, use an air compressor if necessary. then you have to do your paint correction. that means any scratches or imperfections need to be buffed out. then once that's done you need to clay bar it completely top to bottom. making 100% sure the paint is smooth. after that you use a surface prep spray and completely wipe down all areas that you will be coating. making sure you get those completely dry. after all that you apply the coating in even layers. you don't want to have high or low spots, so you have to make sure you have ample lighting to see the coating, DO NOT apply this coating in the sun! some coatings you have to let dry for a few mins, but the one I used you can almost wipe it off immediately. if not, it makes it hard to wipe off. DO NOT apply the coating to the whole vehicle then try to wipe off. work in small sections. for instance on my Subie's I did half the roof at a time, half the hood at a time, then each side panel, then each end. lighter colors are certainly easier to do than dark colors. but the results on a dark color are unmatched by any wax or sealant on the market. my wife's Impreza has been done for 2 months now, and we had snow today. after driving it to work and home, the paint is still "clean" and no harsh road grime has stuck to it. my uncoated white Taco is completely brown.

keep in mind, this type of thing isn't for everyone. but for me, I don't have the time to spend each weekend detailing my vehicles. our daughter races mountain bikes and we are always on the road going to one race or another. the coating makes washing so much easier, but you have to use a hydrophobic wash. no wash with wax in it. I cannot attest to the hardness qualities of this stuff, but just judging by the deepness of how the paint looks, I am happy with the results. I paid $89 for the kit, did 2 cars with it and have enough left to do at least 2 more.

If you have the detailing skills, i.e able to do paint correction with cutting/polishing/jeweling compounds I say go for it. Application time varies from product to product so not quite sure. Videos seem like it's about the same as putting on sealant, but you need to let it cure.

Yeah, I would do a full paint correction on my truck before doing so. That itself would take probably a good 10 hours without a finishing polish because the size of it. But the coating itself seems easy enough and well worth it. I saw a video of a car covered in snow that was ceramic coated and the guy just lightly pushed the snow on the roof and it all slid off; looked really clean. If I had the time, I'd definitely do it!

What are the consequences if you don't paint correct? In my case, I already have some faint pinstripes, which don't bother me, but I still want to protect the paint.

Nothing, aside from seeing your pinstripes under a glossy ceramic coating.

other than touching up some spots on my Subie's I didn't really need much paint correction, so my prep time was a lil less. if I hurry up and do my Taco I won't have to do any paint correction except another round with the clay bar. and yes, snow just slides right off with the coating. my wife's Impreza was covered yesterday and when she got in it drive home she said as soon as she got on the road and hit the gas the snow slid right off the roof and hood. I was skeptical as hell about doing it to my vehicles, as I have always been one to do a paint sealant twice a year and wax as often as needed and that was good enough. but this stuff really works. and on dark colors the paint depth is amazing honestly.

I have a lot of light trail pinstriping i would get rid of because I used to detail for fun and swirl marks and scratches under the coating would drive me crazy.

Yeah, the depth looks amazing on dark cars, like the wet look. I might give it a whirl on my Inferno at the end of the summer.

oh I understand that. I have some paint touch up spots on my wife's Impreza and they show up big time under the coating. but, they still look better than the missing paint spots.

Been following this thread. Do all these ceramic coatings require indoor application? I don’t have a garage but would really like to do this.

I just ordered that stuff. I wish I would have went with CQuartz because it’s well known. But I guess we will see how the other stuff works when it arrives.

I would highly recommend doing it in a covered area. Sunlight will dry it quickly and result in permanent hazing.
