Ha. I'd need to upgrade mine first...still with the soft OEM plastic.

    Lovely,
Did you notice if it kept the recording data rate up? How many channels did you record?

So with a constant pedal position, the truck actual throttle position is 'hunting' up and down, like a crappy lawnmower at 2-3 hz?

Loving the 91 tune. Is there anyway to lower the shift point for sixth gear when in ECT mode? I found myself last night having to disengage ECT to enter sixth gear when on a slight grade, but the truck would hold that lower speed after reengaging sixth. This would be a huge win!

To each his own, a $4 difference per tank of gas for more HP and a better driving experience is something I’m absolutely willing to pay for. You must be the same guy asking that question to the people buying a cold air intake that makes no HP gains.

The 87 tune works fine for those that commute in the truck. 91 works for my lead foot and allows me to enjoy the truck off road, and the dunes where I can open her open and have fun getting side ways.

Ahh perfect. That makes total sense. And yes, I am that guy who wonders why guys put cone intake filters on these new truck with no gains. An intake did make a difference on my '03 Taco, but I don't see a need now.

I am definitely going to try the 91 tune eventually, but I want to see how the 87 fairs me so I don't get spoiled given my OCD.

    Enjoy the dunes!!!:mudding:

Stock is fine, just depends on your needs. Which is why I got a lo-pro bumper by C4. I have seen some pretty sweet in (stock) bumper winches mounted. look good and are mounted to the frame. Again, depends on your needs. I do find myself getting cut-off less once I installed my ditch cube lights and bumper ...lol

You will get spoiled very quick. I solely ran the 91 tune. When I got a test tune that was 87 I almost immediately noticed a difference.

My OCD won’t allow me to run the 87 anymore lol.

me either, simply because i so dislike the off/on switch-like VVT surge, which is not so smooth like on the 91 tune.

Went out to capture the stall I'm experiencing. 91 octane tune. Approx 75 miles on it so far. Was hoping this would disappear with the tune. NOTE: I HAD THIS ON STOCK SETUP. THIS IS NOT A PRODUCT OF THE TUNE.
Hoping @OVTune might have an educated guess as to what's going on. You'll see at just about 1500rpm from dead stop to wot there's a stall in RPM and acceleration which can be felt.

I really am a noob with this software, so I can't answer your question with 100% certainty. I could only get 8 PIDs out of my custom data list to show as a graph. I'm not sure if only they were recorded, or if everything was recorded.. more keyboard warrior training required!

Yeah I had my son go full screen on any PIDS that seemed to be fluctuating a lot while I was "inducing" the stutter. It seemed as though ignition timing and throttle position command were the most obvious. Anyway, we managed to capture a good 10 second event with a little coordination.
Yep, constant pedal and the truck "hunts" really quickly - like that feeling when a small fish is trying to grab your worm lol.

Anyway, I'm going to save the analysis for Mat - he has the complete file and may be able to make something of it. Please understand that the solution (if there is one), may only be applicable for my truck. There are tuned M/T drivers that don't experience this at all, but as you can see I'm not imagining things

wait until you try it. I was on the fence about 87 vs 91... but after 91 not even going to bother with 87, the power is noticeable and it is very useable and the $ per fill up is not a concern for me.

That's probably the truck itself thinking "what the f*ck is going on?" Both mechanically and electronically. Sometimes the mechanical aspect.of a car can't keep up with the electronics

I want to try the 87 tune but I'm afraid I will not be able to give up the 91 for its amazing power over stock. I drove for 22k miles on stock tune and the 91 tune is so great.

I hear you. I ran 91 for quite awhile on 1.03, 1.03B, and a tank of gas on 1.03C. Swapped to 1.03C 87oct to test, was very happy with it and so I haven't returned to 91 octane mostly due to laziness. I will almost certainly go back to 91 but I'm in no rush because the 87 map is excellent too
