I know its been posted on here before, but, which one of these upper control arms would be the "best" for around 3 inches of lift?

Pick your poison really, everyone has mostly good things to say about all of them from what I've read on here. Of course there are negative experiences with most anything but I've had my SPCs on for over a year now and they've been great, no complaints at all.

I didn't know about JBA at the time and I may have gone with them if I had, only because the red would look cooler on my truck.

 

Right on, yea i feel like JBAs are the favorite of the 3, but i dont want them to be the favorite because of easy ball joint replacement, as well as a cool color. Im more concerned about achieving a good caster angle, and obtaining the best ride quality. Although, JBAs seem to be the ones I am leaning towards the most, of the 3.

 

The only downside to the SPCs were the bushings used. No way to lubricate them short of removing them, and sooner or later they squeak BADLY. I don't know the details, but I have heard they are using a different bushing or bearing set-up now, so they may be worth a look. The SPCs are the most adjustable if that matters. If they haven't revised the bushings, I would buy JBAs.

I got the SPC but only because they seemed to have a lot of adjustment range and good support and decent reviews. J

I picked up the SPC's here too. No complaints or squeaking.

 

Jba ball joint also has the most travel. More than uniball, gm truck ball joint. Just ordered a set yesterday.

 

For the money I would go with SPC UCAs. I bought a set in 2013 and just took them off after 44k hard miles, both the ball joints we're replaced under warranty but the new style is miles better. The bushings need to be replaced but they are a $40 wear item so it's to be expected after 5 years. New arms have a different style of bushing that should hold up even better.

 

Thats not bad, do you have a lift? If so how much?
Curious how long JBA or Camburg bushings hold up compared to those SPCs.

 

My Camburg uni-ball's (hehe, he said balls) squeak a bit, after 37000 miles, the ball joint versions likely would not.

 

It is my understanding that the squeaking issue and several other issues have been corrected on the SPC but I do not know for certain. It seemed that each brand I looked at had positives and negatives to consider. I am not hard core, just mostly dirt roads. If I need to take on the rough stuff I have a Rubicon that can drive over my Tacoma, lol.

 

3 inch lift, first OME 886s, then ADS extended coil overs.

 

Also, arent JBA and SPC very close in price? Both are about $450 new

 

We've been happy with JBA. Installed 5 sets to date now. And run a set on our 4runner and Tacoma.

Because of their design and ball joint you get a ton of adjustment. Ball joints and bushings have grease fittings too which is an added bonus. And the ball joints bolt in, easy swap of you ever have one fail. They come with a lifetime warranty.

My only real complaint is the clear coat used on the ball joint is kind of poor and within a year it'll be a rusty mess here and in areas where you have salt. An easy fix it pull the joint out before install and paint it, then put it back.

 

Even the inside of the ball joint gets rusty? With a grease fitting, and being able to consistently keep grease inside, wouldn't that help to address the issue?

 

Not the inside, the top face of the ball joint where the fitting is and bolts go through to thread in to the UCA. It's just surface rust and more of a cosmetic concern. Just not the most visually appealing part especially when bolted to a pretty, red UCA.
