I've been to/through great falls many times before. Wouldn't be a problem, do you have a retailer there?

I also might ask a few people on some local forums and see if they would be interested.

 

Our primary motor carrier is YRC freight. We get great service (our office/warehouse is on I-5 in Stockton) and good rates. We ship to YRC terminals around the country. The address above is the YRC terminal in Great Falls.

The major cost of shipping is for the pallet and first tank. Incremental cost of 2nd, 3rd and 4th tank are relatively low. You can end up with a good savings if you find some friends - strength in numbers :

This is GREAT! I started looking last year for something like this in the US. I have since made some other purchases so it puts me out for a bit, but I am definitely reaching for a little more. Requesting a quote and interested in timing if I can't make this shipment. Anyone know a shot in Colorado Springs area that would do the install for this item? (15 Taco dual cab short bed)

We will honor the $200 discount for orders placed with $300 deposit by April 1st, for orders departing Melbourne on (approximately) May1, June or July 1. If you place order, pay deposit, and can fund balance by May 1, fine. If not, June 1. If not, July 1.

Red Line Land Cruisers in CS are friends of ours. Not sure what their shop schedule looks like, but I need to call Justin on something else, so will see if he is open to the idea. We have done business for years (Terrain Tamer repair kits/parts) but we have not discussed the tank line.

This just jumped in price significantly.
The original post stated a cost just south of $1000 shipped, now there’s another “company” involved and the cost jumped to $1500.
Pretty bummed because I was close to being in a position to get one.
I’m going to go a different route. I’m out.

 

I don't blame you, I would be disappointed too if it were me.

Yes, it is a company, a business, a profit-making enterprise. We are running a business, not a group buy. We have expenses and need to make a profit, so it is a different deal, etc. but the net result is as you stated above.

Most group-buys never happen for a range of reasons and when they do come together, it is usually because someone did a bunch of work for little or no compensation. As a gesture of respect and support for the group that James tried to put together, we have offered a discount to get closer to the price that was hoped for.

PS - Here is one installed at Duggy's Garage in Houston last month. One of our authorized dealers. The Tacoma tank is the most complicated product that LRA produces. Really quite a work of art.

 

Just curious how many folks are in the Colorado Springs area? I am wondering if there is enough of us if we could get a discount on shipping. Redine LC is in Colorado springs so if not everyone is a DIY maybe we can ship to there and just set some install times to make it worth their time too???

Also, I'm thinking I'll do a deposit but I may not be ready to buy until the June/July time frame so I am willing to hold a bit if we get a group that wants to work on shipping together.

 

I did go back and re-read this doc and then check with my insurance. I could have swore I read that it was DOT certified or street legal somewhere. I'll do some more digging because the attached doc does say "offroad use only" etc. and I know of at least one taco around that is running an LRA tank.

For me this is key because my rig is also a day driver.

 

The tank has not been submitted for DOT certification. After much research, we concluded that DOT has interest in commercial/truck operations and related equipment, not automobile. The "offroad use only" rubric is the industry equivalent of "don't tell your Mom" - like a lawyer's CYA clause.

I am aware of no US- installed LRA tanks that are NOT used on the road.

 

It’s cool, I’ll certainly give you that, but the cost is really way off.
I’d never presume to tell you how to conduct your business though, best of luck with sales.

 

Appreciate the post. Lots of moving parts and expense line items like product/liability insurance, lawyers, marketing, promotions and shop discounts.

We want to be able to offer this line for a long time to come, while improving/expanding the offering.

I live in Pueblo, splitting shipping costs would help.

 

Getting a group would be great, so it helps with shipping. I am going to also reach out to the group I do trail runs with next weekend to see if anyone there is interested in the Land Cruiser version of the tank, if we can get them on it too, it may help with shipping also.

I am on the fence for the first order but definitely will have the $$ on the second. If we get a bunch on this order to save on shipping that would be great and it will likely push me into the first round.

Not sure the cost is "way off" Check out this tread from another TW member. He purchased and did the import himself.. Looks like about $1500.
