Sorry if this has been beaten to death, but i was unable to find anything with some decent search effort. Im getting ready to pull the trigger on a new Taco and want to know what i should expect with regards to Avg. MPG for daily use? My commute is about 18Mi door to door mostly FWY. My 09 Outback XT is killing me, 14-17mpg and only takes 91+. At this rate i may as well be driving a truck. Thanks!

Dont buy the taco for mpg your best will be 20 +/- mpg.
If mpg is an issue better to pull the trigger on a yaris.

With factory tires, driving highway I got 22/24 mpg.
After I put decent truck tires on, it dropped to 18/20 hwy with a little driving around town.
    14/15 Mpg if I'm 4 wheeling.

Thanks! No one gets a truck for fuel efficiency, and I dont plan to either, I just want to make sure I'm not lying to my wife when I tell her that this will be MORE efficient than our family wagon ;)

In my MT Sport I get about 18 mpg hand calculated on my daily commute. The auto trans trucks supposedly do a little better.

I average just over 20mpg on a tank with 75% highway and 25% stop-and-go traffic. For me the advertised fuel economy is pretty accurate.

I hammer on my M/T sport all the time, 16mpg is my average. On a long trip, if its all highway and I'm not being a lunatic, 22 is about my average.

    See below for mine.

Our Forester XT is crap for MPGs also, except for long trips.

I drive about 200 miles a day. cruising at 70 all the way I get 22mpg. 5mph faster I get about 1 mpg less. Tank average I get about 20 cause I always hit traffic. City driving dips as low as 15 if Im hammering it. stock tires TRD offroad manual

i never get over 16/17 around here...but i take very short trips most of the time (work from home) and its hilly ...i also removed the air dam and have falken wildpeak 265/70-17 and trd wheels..not sure how much they change things, but they surely dont help my MPG

My commute is 24mi mostly highway and average 20-22. I have a Sport 2wd DCSB, all stock. The problem your gonna run into is that you buy the truck and you continue to follow this forum. A year later your truck may not look like how you bought it...........cause well you came to Tacoma World and very few trucks tend to stay stock here.
    Good luck

Why not go to Toyota and rent a tacoma for a day or two .Some dealership will credit that day/s rent toward a new taco. Win win

The mileage blows. Right now all stock with 3700 the truck is getting about 16mpg. Only gotten as high as 19mpg.

I guess I'm a little out of the norm. I have a 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 MT. MY commute is 27.2 miles all HWY. I drive very conservative and I get around 25.5mpg to and from work. At times I get 27. I drive in Dallas so it's easier just to set the cruise at 58mph and stay in the right lane. Yes, I'm old! :D If I come up to somebody going slower... I just go slower. My average for a tank is around 23mpg. Again.. I'm not a speed demon.

Now.. when I pull my RV I get around 8mpg.

We have an 11 outback wagon, and a 17 Taco sport, I take the car if I am feeling like being fuel efficient.

In my taco, 18 mpgs is decent for day to day driving. If I'm on the highway, I do ok, but the truck really likes 50-60 on nice country roads, I see over 20 there.

I'd say I drive highway about 80-85% of the time and I average 22/23MPG a tank depending on how fast I'm going. Seems my MPG's slowly go down after 70MPH. I live in CO though where the speed limit is 75 in some spots and we can run 85 octane. I've gotten as high as 26MPG when on the highway doing about 60MPH with a bunch of things in my bed and the tonneau cover on. Compared to the Frontier that I had, this thing sips gas.

My mixed driving average is about 21 MPG right now (in winter). In warmer months, it goes up to about 23. Half my daily commute is on the highway, the other half is stop and go in a quasi-rural area. The Taco will definitely be more fuel efficient than what you're driving now.
