Against Censorship


We defend the rights of individuals to unrestricted freedom of speech, freedom of the press and the right of individuals to dissent from government itself. ... We oppose any abridgment of the freedom of speech through government censorship, regulation or control of communications media, including, but not limited to, laws concerning:

• Obscenity, including "pornography", as we hold this to be an abridgment of liberty of expression despite claims that it instigates rape or assault, or demeans and slanders women; ...
• Electronic bulletin boards, communications networks, and other interactive electronic media as we hold them to be the functional equivalent of speaking halls and printing presses in the age of electronic communications, and as such deserving of full freedom;
• Electronic newspapers, electronic "Yellow Pages", and other new information media, as these deserve full freedom. ... "

A Principled Stand Against Censorship

The Libertarian Party is the only political party in the United States with an explicit stand against censorship of computer communications in its platform. The Libertarian Party also opposes restrictions on the development and use of cryptography.
As a political party, the LP is the only anti-censorship organization that gives you a chance to vote for freedom of speech on Election Day -- by voting for Libertarian candidates for public office.

If I go to another country and one of their citizens is wearing a t-shirt with a flag of their country on it, it doesn't bother me one bit. How are we Americans offending anybody by showing support for our own country? This pisses me off so much. Ronald Reagan and Thomas Jefferson are rolling over in their graves right now. What is this country turning into? Damn it!

IF they want to ban wearing American flag shirts then they need to band ALL flag shirts. And last I checked Cinco De Mayo was a god damned Mexican holiday so it should have no bearing on the American school system. What's next? Can't wear a flag on the Queen of Englands birthday? Next year my son is wearing an American Flag shirt to school on May 5th. I pity the school asshole that calls me to come pick him up.

 

No one would have said a damn thing if these kids wore the same attire on St. Patrick's Day...Bullshit.

 

The whole thing seems like another totally absurd pronouncement appropriate for the Left Coast.

Funny how they sent the kids home for wearing the flag but they left the flag up on the pole in front of the school.

Morgan Hill is in a largely ag area south of San Jose. But again, thanks for the stereotyping, generalization, and prejudice. How shall we stereotype South Floridians? Colombian drug smugglers with no regard for human life?

One isolated incident in a podunk high school, and you guys drag out the constitution? Jeez, give it a rest. It was a slow news day.

MOST of California are left wing loonies. I am sure MOST of the Marines at camp pendelton are not from there... I would also go out on a limb and say that 90% of the Bay area are liberal nut jobs that dont want to "ruin" the illeagle mexican familys and will throw bricks through the USMC recruting station in Berkley. (in the dark of night...pussys)
They believe the Marines "do not belong there" but I guess "undocumented workers" do, right?

the mexican students protested the next day and walked out of school and marched to city hall........uhh did they not get in trouble for ditching school? thats worse to me than wearing a pro american shirt.

That is bullshit. Being a highschool student, I know that administrators do this sort of thing all the time. Its ridiculous. Although I can't stand these kids and their frican Tapout T-shirts lol. 99 percent of them have never trained a day in there life.

 

Lots of them were mexican flags any other day of the year. I have to press two for English.. WTF?????
