I finally signed off the shitshow that is Facebook for good. Like many others, I've grown tired of the political posts and glaringly phony news stories that people post as if it were the bible. But the proverbial nail in the coffin was this god awful trend of old coots posting "if you played with one of these doo-dads in the 70s, you had an awesome childhood." Or the ubitiquous "like if you know what this is" with a picture of an old foot actuated high beam switch... just nauseating.

I also have a Facebook business page, which made deleting my primary no easy task. I had to create another "admin account" to manage my page with a phony name, then I had to like my business page with that account, THEN I had to friend that profile with my primary account, and finally I had to assign that account as an admin on my business account. Only then could I delete my primary and still have control of my business account.

Total pain in my ass, but it feels so good!

Wow man the effort to delete your primary account was quite extensive! Maybe it’s just my view of the common person, but I take about 2 percent of Facebook remotely seriously and enjoy seeing many of my friends make big deals over pointless shit. That said though, I got a few friends who start almost daily shit shows and I wouldn’t want to miss out on that! Congrats on your win over the FB!

I haven’t had the FB for two years now and I find that I utilize my time in a more appropriate and efficient way! One of the best choices I’ve made.

I got rid of mine last year and haven’t looked back! The only pain in the ass thing about Facebook is I used it to sign into several other accounts and now to use those accounts I have to log back into Facebook then I can delete Facebook again. Now I just use Instagram and it’s a much better environment.

I’ve debated on doing that for the past year. I may bring myself to at some point in the near future. I rarely get on because it’s just a bunch of shit nowadays. Facebook was good back when it first started. Only reason I haven’t yet is because some out of state family uses it to communicate once in a while. Outside of that, it’s useless and full of things we don’t talk about on TW. More power to you man, would like to see the zuckerberg machine shut down one day.

I deleted it last summer. Way too many politically correct social justice warriors looking for the next thing to complain about. Plus I think the whole idea of Facebook is creepy.

Is facebook really that bad? Never had it in my life. The only thing I really hate is when people feel the need to announce to everyone that theyre done with social media and theyre deleting their account, theyre always posting drama too. Like dude no one cares, just delete it.(not talking about you, but you know what i mean lol we’ve all seen it)

I would be curious to see the day, but man I get the feeling that too many moms have grown to need what it delivers. If it were to ever go away, it would likely be due to something similar, but better. It’s funny how much my gf lives on the thing and she gets salty at times when she sees that I have no knowledge on some of the news on there or the fact that I don’t care to know either.

FYI though, watch your news sources as well, even after deleting Facebook, you may have the internal urge for a news fix. Know who your getting you info from, research everything, and always know... there’s always more than one side to a story... oh and everyone lies... it’s in our blood. But good people lie for the right reasons.

Funny, I told my sister I deleted my account and she said "OMG what happened?!" Like I had some bad encounter with someone online... I told her nothing happened, I'm just done with that shit.

Never had or wanted one. If you want to talk to me you have my number, and that’s how I like it. Good for you on deleting it. Oh yea and no twitter or insta or any form of social media except Tw

If you hate that I appealed to a group of people about my feelings, then you wouldn't last 5 minutes on Facebook!

And yea, I catch your drift...

    YEAH !

As a kid born in '97 Ive had pretty much every social media account available in the last 10 years, and I decided to delete all of them besides FB, which I used for SCOR and distant family members, so I kept that, but just logged out and deleted apps.

Been without an Instagram, Snapchat, or any other typical account for a person of my age since November, and its actually great.
No more hearing other peoples drama, BS, wasted time, and worrying that im not doing the 'cool things'.
Honestly on of the best decisions Ive made in the last year to kinda improve myself and turn my life around.

Only downsides are missing all the cool rigs posted on TW's acocunt, and im always confused about 'memes'.
Side effects also include an increased browsing time on TW, so that makes up for the lost drama, BS, and all that time i found my self with :D
