I'm looking for new work boots.

I used to wear Caterpillar 8 inch Indiana steel toe boots and loved them. I wore them down to nothing.

When I tried to order another pair, they had stopped making them. They only offer Indiana 2.0 which fit horribly and are not at all the same boots. The sides are made from patchwork leather

Right now I'm wearing some 6" redwings that my work bought for me and they're too wide and don't have good support

I really like the support I get from 8" boots, but from what I've read a lot of companies seem to be selling out to the plastic like soles and same terrible fit that caterpillar has made

Does anyone have any suggestions? I was looking at some bates 8" side zip boots

 

Wolverine durashocks 8” kiltie or Dr. marten industrial slip on (what I wear on shift) has padded ankle supports

 

Tried them all over the years. Timberline Pro with Anti Fatigue puncture resistant soles, add some Dr. Scholls insoles for all day comfort. You get what you pay for.

 

They are pricey but check out Whites Boots or Nicks boots out of Spokane Washington. They last way longer than any other boots I’ve worn. And the arch support makes them incredibly comfortable.

 

Bates were comfy when i had em but didnt last long.

 

@Superman What kind of work do you do? Might help with suggestions. I've been using Red Wing's 3507 for just over a decade. I'm averaging about four years out of a pair but I keep two pairs in rotation. The 3507 is a 6" but the 3508 is the same but in an 8" version. They're rated for electrical, oil and puncture resistance but the sole isn't very aggressive. I typically wear them 16 hours a day but alternate one pair one day and another the next, mostly on steel with non-skid and diamond plate. I'm not a fan of the stock inserts, I usually go with the green superfeet insert. I'm also not a fan of the stock laces and wind up changing those out.

 

I bought a pair of Carolina logger boots almost two years ago and they're the longest I've had a boot last. My next pair will be the same for sure.

With lesser quality boots they usually develop a crack or separation of the sole across the ball of the foot within a year.

 

+1 for Carolina Boot. have three pairs, 8" lace up loggers, few years old, have broken in real nice. new pair of 6" loggers, and a new pair of normal looking 6" work boots. no steel toes for me. check out shoeline.com I had found a 30% off code online in February when I bought the new pairs. I had same issue with a pair of redwings years ago, great boots, quality, fit and finish. but they run wide.......I generally wear wide sneakers, but I get normal width in the carolina boot, works great for me.

 

Timberland Pros for me....super comfy!!!

 

My old Redwings got extremely uncomfortable and wore horribly after a few months.

I’ve worn these everyday for 3 years or so. Most comfortable boots I’ve ever worn, but I do add insoles since I wear them about 16hrs a day. I’m rough with my boots so it’s a testament they’ve lasted this long.

Finally broke down and replaced my "Worn" Ariats...... 4 years of "Everything " abuse and sadly not finding a "Cobbler" to resole them..

Only problem I have with these ,so dam comfortable that I try to wear them full time.....Not quite "retired" enough to wear them with shorts

 

Another for Carolina...my trade eats boots, I'm lucky to get 6 months out of a pair of Timberline Pro or Keens. I've had these over a year now, and they will probably go another 6 months to a year before they die. Pricey up front but I came out ahead in the end.

 

I have two pairs of boots in rotation. Redwing Peco’s and Thorogood Oil rigger boot. Both made in Murica’! Redwing Peco is the most durable but noticeably heavier vs the Thorogood. The Thorogoods are lighter and still a great work boot but doesn’t outlast the Redwings. The Thorogoods are $140 vs Peco’s over $200+ I’m probably due as I haven’t bought boots in a couple of years. (I work on ships and beat the crap out of my boots)

 

I like my Georgia Logger Work boots. I put mink oil on them a few times a year and they have lasted forever. I have a high arch and they support my feet well. Very comfortable for me.

 

I assume your looking at lace up boots, check out Danner. They can get pricey but as others have said, you get what you pay for.
