I have my kiddo she rides in the middle of the back seat no one wants to ride all squished up to a car big car seat. If she's not with me it's my storage I want to get at quickly area coolers, safety equip., etc so kills passenger carrying ability.

No need to apologize I like the detailed explanations helps me picture it better. I really like the kitchen idea. I am torn on making something like that or just throwing my stove in a drawer when I go otherwise the drawer stays vacant for other items. Still in design/use stage for my system.

I had the same dilemma. I’m still borderline thinking it’s overcomplicated (which it definitely is) and just doing two drawers, but I think I’m going to give it a shot. I’ll let you all know what I learn!

Even though I am a long bed I am not doing drawers the full length I am leaving the front as compartments for battery system and then on board air and spare parts. So my drawers will be in the 4-5ft length range.

I’m planning on a dual battery and on board air in the engine compartment. There are some really nice setups for that. Have you looked into those at all?

It'd be nice to incorporate a sink into that side. Maybe be able to swap with the stove location using quick connects or store in section two and lift out to hook over the outside rail so you're not leaning over the tailgate. I like that the stove is well away from the back of the vehicle as grease fires do happen so make sure the extinguisher is always handy. Where does the cooler go?

Did you use any adhesive on your carpet, or just staples?

I used just staples on mine - put it together at 10pm the night before a trip I was planning on using it on so I didnt want to deal with wet glue/carpet - havent had any issues with it. Used a lot of staples though. Also thought it might be easier to recover should I ever want to. Just make sure you pull it good and tight if you only going to use staples.

That's a really good idea on a sink. I'm thinking either there or on the leaf that flips out furthest to the driver's side. Also agree on the stove being away from the back. I also didn't want to stink up the bed too much with the smell of cooking fish!

I think the cooler is going to live in the back seat or outside of the truck. I had originally planned on building the platform taller to fit the cooler underneath but decided I would rather have more head room inside. Since it's just me, my wife, and our dog, the cooler can live in the back seat area without really interfering too much.

I sewed Velcro to the back of my carpet, and used sticky Velcro on the platform.

There isn't much force trying to move the carpet, so I figured the sticky would hold fine. So far, it has.

Oh, and I just have the Velcro around the perimeter of the platform.

If outside the truck you could put the cooler on a swing out hitch. If using a fridge you might run power through the 7-point. Nice to have refreshments in cab though. Were me I'd consider time driving vs time camped. Then again you could keep it in cab while traveling and just throw it on the swing out (or ground, folding stool) when in camp, best of both I suppose. Being able place it in a shady spot argues for portability but if you run with an awning it doesn't matter so a fixed location works. Lots to consider, mostly based on your ideal rig, how you use it, and where you go. Doctor says "spend less time in the sun" so for me an easy up or awning is a must along with a hat that makes my ass sore, YMMV.

Approximately 465 million staples later, I’m almost finished.
