There are 3 state parks on the shore between Cannon Beach and the Columbia river, and Gearhart has one of them. As said before, Clatsop county is a no just because there are state parks everywhere and tight city ordinances. Lots of tourist dollars, they don't want campers mucking up the place. I guess.

Ordinary mining claims (non-patented) give the owner no rights beyond the minerals, they cannot prohibit entry. Patented mining claim they own the land and all rights. I wouldn't fuck with their stuff either, but then I don't fuck with other people's stuff because I know the world of hurt anyone who fucks with my stuff could face.

    Remember I'm not a lawyer.

And to make sure there's no grey areas, they closed the whole beach for camping from the Necanicum River up to the South Jetty. AKA, anywhere you can drive in that area.

Technically, without that rule in place, you could camp between Del Ray and Ft. Stevens (it's a good chunk). But of course, now you cannot.

Where on the coast did you grow up? I was always in florence or at my great gmas cabin in yachets non stop. About the time I moved away is when they imposed the marked campsite only camping out on the flats, along with no adult beverages outside of the parking lots.

So, anyone have a good suggestion on where to mount a Blue Sea Systems 4 position switch between the batteries and the winch and Anderson Powerpole connector?
I'm running out of space under the hood!
There might be room with the Switch Pro and aux relay block If I can design a good mount.
    Any other ideas?
I have all the parts for the U.S. Offroad mount install except the mount!
Winch, pod lights, and all wiring here need to figure a bracket to mount the solenoid.
I am hoping to get as much pre-work done as possible before the swap/install, install happens at Jim's!

Does it have to go under the hood?

I figured it should be as close to the batteries as possible.

I think the winch will need to be wired directly to the battery won't it?

Shouldn't matter as long as the wire gauge is correct for the load. Plus if your running a blue sea, it'll stay a lot cleaner in the cab as it's not a sealed unit.

According to the Smittybuilt X20 12k manual, a 11250lb pull will demand 332 amps. The switch I have is 350 amps constant and 600 amps for 5 min. Might be safer to get the HD switch 500 amp constant or abandon the switch for the winch.

I like the idea of the cab as I will not have to open the hood to engage the jumpers or winch(s). Just not sure if I should introduce such mainlines into the cab. Although, If I have an accident that causes a short in the cab, I probably be a real mess and it wont matter.

Run the winch directly off the battery.

Yeah definitely run the winch straight to the battery. Last thing is you need something to overload/catch fire. Its happened before
