so i still have my hyper flash on passenger side rear tail light.

running a 6ohm that i thought had a kinked wire and replaced with another 6ohm. was good for awhile but if i let it blink for 30+ seconds, it will begin to hyper flash. It's starting to warm up here so i'm wondering if ambient temps have something to do with it.

i bought an 8ohm resistor i'm going to try swapping it in place of the 6. if it still hyper flashes after that i'm ripping out the led's in the taillights and going back to halogens. too much of a pita and not much of a payoff.

It's weird, I think you're the 3rd or 4th person I've seen who has said that the passenger side was the only side to hyperflash...although most of the others have had the issue when trying to do the Turn as Tail mod.

I'm guessing the electrical properties on the passenger side is slightly different, so it required a tad more resistance for the other guys to fix it. Hope it works for you as well.

Right. But there is the problem, enthusiasm for a single product purchased. People create emotional bonds with the products they have spent their hard earned money on, for good reason, because they want it to be a good one. Enthusiasm is bias and directly counters scientific and objective analysis. (Yes I know we are all here because we are enthusiastic and want to have fun).

If you purchased entirely new LED housings like the Morimoto fogs, good for you. That was a wise choice to run LEDs as the beam pattern and cut off will be maintained in an LED specific housing, unlike retrofitting LEDs into your halogen housings.

To be clear, I said 'others' are confused by reading this thread. I get hundreds of lighting consultation PMs, and after several recent references to this thread I decided to comment. It is an engineering/scientific fact that putting an LED in a halogen housing will not work correctly, so if you try to argue that it does work, then yes it is true that my information is correct, and yours is not. Not trying to be rude, but engineering is not a fuzzy grey field, I work in it every day in things far more critical than vehicle lighting. While I certainly do not wish people to be disheartened in the effort they have put into their truck, I also firmly believe knowledge is power to the people. I believe that educating people is far more beneficial than making them feel good about their ill-advised purchase.

Again, many are deceived by the light shift toward the vehicle resulting in increased foreground lighting and loss of distance illumination. Peoples vision is more likely to favor near field illumination without realizing they have lost distance illumination, so it isn't like people are deliberately choosing to lose their distance projection. But I cannot tell you how many people I have had discover this after running LEDs for a period of time only to switch back to a light source compatible with the housing.

Problem is there are no good LEDs for halogen housings, which is why this conversation keeps repeating, so there is nothing to 'send you'. What I have done though is buy members of the forum light meters and ship them to their door and teach them how to use them so they can test their own lights and come to their own independent conclusions which happen to match what I continuously talk about. In my opinion educating someone with tools and knowledge is far better than showing them up with a one time better product. Again knowledge and education is power. Unfortunately LED calibrated light meters are quite expensive compared to a standard incandescent meter.

I think this is a big source of consternation, that I am "some guy" on "the internet", which sure obviously we all are. But I am not giving you "opinions", I am providing you engineering/scientific facts. Read up on Daniel Sterns site, he is heavily involved in setting the direction of the future of automotive lighting.
    https://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/Hid/conversions/conversions.html

Yep. Already bought it the "new Philips halloween H11s from Alice" and already lined up a 3rd Gen. I've done this same test several times before with different products and the results are always the same. People got suckered out of their money. The fact that people even think of this company as legit makes me question the experience of those in this thread.

Clearly you have not read up on any of my many lighting threads.

All of my light output photos are against a standardized control point, shown side-by-side in the same photo. I've received push back from LED vendors using this approach vs using a before & after as you suggested which can be fudged, and I completely disagree with the before and after approach. See my post linked below, making a point this is a BS approach.

I realize my comments are of course unpopular in an LED thread. They can be equally unpopular with LED vendors. But I am not here for a popularity contest and really do not care what people/vendors think for liking the comments. My goal is to inform as many people as possible on the science and engineering principles of lighting, backed by factual tested information.

Gotta love that IGNORE feature or should I just ignore what my eyes tell me when driving at night with led headlights. Isn't it funny how someone with an engineering degree seems to know something about everything. I have worked with literally hundreds of pretengineers in my life. Electrical guys are experts on mechanical stuff. Mechanical guys are experts on electrical stuff. Yet when you hand one a socket and a bolt they wrestle with the function of either. Not speaking about Engineers in general but more of the ones who are experts in the fields of which they are not educated.

While I know your opinions may not be popular in an LED lighting thread, I appreciate your input on the topic. I accept that it's possible that my Hikari LED bulbs in the low beams may technically be degrading my lighting from the stock halogens or some other option that's better, but for my purposes the Hikaris fit my needs. I drive almost exclusively in highly populated city or suburban areas so I really don't notice any degradation of the headlights from using LED bulbs. If I do find myself on a dark country road I would use my high beams which are still the stock halogens. Given that I don't feel the need to totally max out my low beam light output, I'm fine with having LED low beams because they fit the aesthetics I'm looking for on my truck. Once I got the Morimoto XB LED fogs the halogen low beams just looked really out of place - bad mismatch between the white fogs/DRLs and yellowish low beams. Now that I've put the Hikari LED bulbs in low beams the look of the lights really flows nicely together. In terms of Hikari as a brand, I really don't know much about them other than the other testimonials on this thread. As long as they keep working as they are now I'm fine with them, but that would obviously change if one of them burns out or malfunctions in the near-term.

Well not to take away from the LED headlight drama (btw, i love mine and are far superior to the shitty halogens) i've given up on the led turn signals.

put in an 8ohm resistor and immediately got hyper flash with lights on but fine with lights off. i put halogen bulbs back into the brake and signal sockets and will leave it as such.

    so, anyone want 3 x 6ohm resistors / 2 x 8ohm resistors / 4 x red LED lights to play with? I'll sell them for half my cost ($60) so $30. LMK

Dang that's a bummer! Although some of us did not have an issue with resistance values that you tried out, 9 & 10 ohms are the only values that has worked for everyone who has tried (so far). Granted, it was only a handful, but it was after they were not having any luck with 5-8 ohm resistors...

Well ain’t this some shit. Passenger side still fast flashes with just the front turn signal led.

I guess putting the stock Amber in tonight. Man this sucks. What a waste.

WTF!!!!!!!! and you are sure there are no shorts anywhere right. I mean how come this is happening.......rhetorical question. I want to do all these mods too but I am no where near as skilled as you guys that can work through these kinds of problems. So I say again, WTF!

Well I’m not very well versed in the idiosyncrasies of electrical systems to know. I put the halogens in the front and no fast blink. I even swapped the front leds and the fast blink stayed with the passenger side.

Yea, definitely not a automotive engineer, or electrical engineer, hell, I'm lucky I can evem spell engineer, but it has to be something wonky obviously in that side causing it. Meaning, nothing you are doing.

Got my Festoon dome light in and new reverse lights. The festoon is nice and bright and will compliment my red meso map lights well when I need some extra punch.I ordered from the retrofit source, here is a capture of what lights I got. The reverse seem to be very bright, gonna try it out in a few hours when it gets dark

Edit: The dome light works really well with the red meso map lights, still some red in the front but can easily see anything I would want without it blinding me at the same time. The reverse lights definitely are an improvement, the back up screen is clear now and not static looking. I would estimate I can see a good 30ft or more behind the truck through the camera, before it felt like it was worthless in the dark and I honestly didn't even bother using it.

Hikari philips low and high beams. Ground isn’t level in front of me. Goes down to a bottom then after the grass it goes back up. I’m definitely happy with them. I’ll eventually put the 32” single row led bar in my bumper

Maybe a stupid question but for the 3rd brake light is there 3 bulbs? 2 White and 1 Red?
