get a generator

 

I saw that option. My biggest concern with that is the drive train. I bet that extra weight puts a lot of strain on it and would likely strip out the differential. If I went that route, I'd want to redo basically all of the drive train.

Why the huge desire for that to disappear?

 

I looked into all this a few years ago, but it became alot of money and work to put into a toy that the kids would likely loose interest in, as much as I would probably love it! Then you start looking into something more durable on a platform that already set up for this same thing....

 

Been without power for an hour. Normally don't worry or care but wife needs to pump and baby needs to stay warm

Have at least 6" here. Very wet and heavy. I was driving around and found a hill I couldn't get up, even after several attempts.

 

I believe in having a backup system anyway, and I don't even have any anklebiters to worry about.

 

It’s an 06 already put a new motor in it, so resale value is poor. V6 so it’s no fun and i have about 2k into it after putting the motor in. Trade in is 3500 it’s probably worth 5000 insurance wise. I want a new truck anyway.

Holy shit, that's a lot of work for something not that old. I haven't even put that much work into mind and it's 10 years older. It only needed 1 big repair bill when I first got it from my grandfather cause it sat for so long the coolant went corosive and ate through the hose and fuse with a oil hose. Explains why it would overheat so quickly driving around town. It's a V6 as well so I understand that feeling; I hope to eventually get a V8 in the future but, it'll be a long time before that more money to dump into the taco first.
