Ive been looking at some convo of the rubbing with 285 with a 3” lift. Will the caster really help on getting more clearance from the cab mount. Only driver side hits on mine and with slow sharp turns? Just got the 285 this weekend and not liking the rubbing! Has anyone gotten the caster adjusted?

Yes, the caster will help. There is some magical alignment numbers that people recommend that will get you what you’re looking for. Use the search bar and you will find them.

Have you done a CMC? 285d usually need to have that done to fully get ride of the rubbing.

I have had zero rubbing issues except for when I hit a reasonable bump mid turn. No trimming at all

Haven’t done the cab mount yet. I’ve heared it avoids warranty? When I got my lift installed they aligned the truck but I can tell driver tire is closer to cab than passenger.

Do your wheels have the same backspacing as factory? Mine have the same as factory and are the same size tire as you.

Im on a leveling kit with 285/75/16s on stock wheels with 1.25 spacers, I had minimal rub when flexing and turning and none for daily driving. I went ahead and chopped but didn't cap it.

I have the trd wheels I believe have same back space and stock and have a 1.25” wheel spacer? Maybe getting rid of that?

I have 1.5 years of warranty left and would like to wait until then to do the cab mount

take one spacer off and see, I think that will definitely get rid of the rub on the cab mount, just have to see the clearance on the upper control arm. With the offroad rims I rub on the upper control arm with 285/75/16, I am not sure if the TRD pro wheels have the same offset.

where did you hear a CMC will void the warranty? Not even sure my dealership would notice it.

It has nothing to do with the power train.

Then guess you should get used to not turning and going slow lol.

For what it's worth your lift voids warranty whether the dealer tells you or not. Your warranty is not with said dealer it's with Toyota Corp. And if the dealer is doing stuff under warranty its because they're hiding it.

Cmc and fill plate and most dealers are too stupid to even notice it.

While you're at it since someone will say the same about me saying your lift voids.
Yes Toyota needs to point to said modification as reason for whatever is broken that you're getting fixed under warranty. But if they say no go ahead and fight it. They have bigger and better lawyers. Someone will mention the moss act but it won't do anything.

Do the chop put in fill plate and paint .Dealer cunts won't even know
Just so you know your larger tires are even easier to point to as something voiding warranty and causing issues.

Trust me I had a dealer tell me my 265 70 17 was the reason my transmission shifted so much and wouldn't do the tsb. Got another dealer to do it and it was fixed. Not the tires. But first dealer was filled with cunts

The kicker is many dealers install lifts. I don't think any warranty related work would point toward the cab mount, and like had been mentioned twice now.... doubt the dealer would notice.

Yep. Because they figure keep the customer happy. But really it will only be that dealer that your warranty is good for. Others will turn you away.

A well done cmc will only be noticed by those who have done it to their own Tacoma.

I have more warranty available than you and I'll be cutting next week and already have a mid travel lift lol
I also wheel it and dealer knows. Cause warranty to me is only for engine and transmission issues

If something breaks I'll fix it with something better

A lift or CMC doesn't "void your warranty" but they can deny specific repairs. If you have a CMC and your head unit dies you will still have a warranty. Now if you have a CMC and then you start getting rust in that area they may turn you away.

If you have a lift and your starter goes out then it will be warrantied. If you have a lift and you have a CV blow up they may deny it....

With all the resources available online I don't understand why people still think they will get their warranty "voided."

Yes based on the magnuson moss act this is true.

And although yes the dealer won't turn you away for those things if they want to be pricks say your transfer case or diff goes and you have a lift they might try and point to that saying the changed driveshaft angle caused it. Although yes they do technically need to be able to point to said issue, you'll spend more time and money trying to fight it in court than if you just paid for it yourself and thats if you win in court.

Guess it all depends what you really plan on using your warranty for.
Way I see it you're giving them an easy way out of doing the repair. This also comes down to how the dealer is if they want to be fuckers or not.

Like I said above I wanted the TSB for the transmission done because I had all the issues that went with said TSB. The dealer close to my house who I will no longer go to tried to say no we can't do it because its not a problem with the transmission its your tires are bigger (265 70 17) vs I go to the dealer thats about 45min drive away where i bought the truck and they do the TSB no questions asked and it fixed all the shifting issues.

All these guys worried about warranty need to understand anything outside of stock just gives the dealers excuses to not do shit if they want to be pricks.
