Worst MT tire I have ever owned. I'd buy Procomp before I would ever own another MTR.

MTRs work awesome in hard pack. And that's all I can personally say they are good at. IMO they were terrible in every other scenario.

That's a testament as to how shitty MTRs are.

:notsure: I'll wait until I lose another until I write them off completely, so far my only complaint is losing that sidewall. Maybe all that talk about Kevlar is just marketing BS.

By now with the shitty Cooper MTPs I had the Mtr's are definitely doing better. By this mileage I had probably lost 2 dozen shoulder lugs on the Coopers

The MTRs are also terrible on wet asphalt. Especially with no ABS  and where I live now, it's always wet...

Disassembling shocks to investigate a weeping bypass adjustment screw, measure the rod to figure out where exactly the piston sits at ride height and do some tinkering. Learned a bit and figured out some things. Also made some stronger shock holders. The one I made before had some shitty light duty clamps off of Mcmaster, I made the new one with clamps that the company I work for uses on industrial hydraulic piping. Definitely need to make a new work table, this Harbor Freight welding table isn't cutting it anymore.

Coil over disassembled for some tinkering
    IMG_20180321_124801.jpg

People complain about clicking bypass valve, but I've never heard mine, was thinking it might have to do with my bypasses being open quite a bit but nope, the valves appear to be teflon or some other type of plastic, I don't know if this is a specification Total Chaos calls for or if its typical? I haven't torn apart my rear bypass valves to see what's in there, but definitely curious now.

The bottom compression check is a solid piece of plastic.
    IMG_20180321_154455.jpg

The top compression bypass valve has a bleed hole in the center.
    IMG_20180321_160155.jpg

All of the springs appear to be the same, all of them are easy to compress with an index finger and thumb.
    IMG_20180321_154521.jpg

The bypass valve stops are a PIA to get out, the first one I got out I ended up pressurizing the reservoir and jamming the rod into the shock and popped it out, it hit the garage ceiling when it finally popped and took 10 minutes of looking around to find the stop, spring, and the valve. Shock oil sprayed all over the wall and got some on the ceiling.

Got a tip to use hemostat forceps style pliers to pull them out, and what do you know harbor freight has a cheap set. I went down, picked up the 2 sizes they have. The small ones don't have enough "grab" to pull out the stops, but after grinding down the large ones they work a bit better. The small ones work well to pull out the springs and teflon valves. It appeared the bypass valve that was weeping had a sliver of metal stuck under an oring, so hopefully now that I got it out it won't be weeping anymore.

Length of a King shock part number: TC1119-34 rod eye center-end of piston length
    IMG_20180321_161151.jpg

Also I'm curious as to why King uses lock nuts on Coil overs and hydro bumps, but normal hex nuts on bypasses.

    Just the tip uh?

I wish I could have seen shock oil go everywhere. Good info and pictures.

Trip with @Mike likes Tacos to the Maze District and to Moab before he had to bounce due to personal issues.

I've had several trips without anything going wrong and a bunch of little annoying weird things popped up and fucked some things up on the truck.

    1) Light bar on the roof wiring rubbed on itself near the plug and wore through and shorted itself out
    2) Fog light fell off on the way to Hans Flat, its still lying on the side of the road somewhere
    3) Near the end of the trip when I was camping by myself the transmission oddly got stuck in either 2nd or 3rd gear and only started shifting again after manually shifting it back down and up.
    4) Horn stopped working, I can't remember the last time I used it so I have no idea how long its been out.
    5) Driver side "The Truck Shop" spindle gusset now has a small crack in one of the plates that make the "box" that the gussets form
    6) Front bumper got crushed in a little bit after multiple hits on Rose Garden Hill and got knocked out of level
    7) Driver side rear drum brake started binding up and not letting the wheel turn after stopping and putting the truck in park.

I've got outrageous amount of photos, I did a quick run through and did some quick and dirty edits. Apparently Tacomaworld wont let us upload more than 50 photos to a single post so I'll split up the 60 or so between 2 posts

First photo is from Skyline Overlook at the southern end of the San Rafael Swell

Following photos are from before going in, in the middle of, and coming out of the maze. After Mike and I left the Maze we stayed at one of my "secret" campsites that I know about.

Next set of photos is from Moab, we had a tentative meet up planned with @inv3ctiv3 but his group was making slow progress and ultimately got called back for work so the meet up never happened, hit up a couple of the trails out there before Mike had to take care of some personal issues. We did a afternoon/evening run up Rose Garden Hill and did TOTW as a night run. Next day we ran the Poison Spider -> Golden Spike -> Gold Bar Rim route over the afternoon/evening.

After Mike had to bounce I headed over to the San Rafael Swell and checked out an area I hadn't seen before and then drove down to the area south of the Henry Mountains and checked out some of the badlands down there.

Yeah me too, I wanted to see that GFC and see how it handled on some tough trails and @Mike likes Tacos wanted you to catch some critters so he could see them up close.
