I've got a friend who is an engineer in the engine dept. for one of the teams.

 

YUS! this lift keeps staring at me in all the boxes on the floor of my garage.

 

I wish I had a place to hold a mod day, but don't think my landlord would be too happy if I tried

And I don't think the big wigs at the CAT house would be too happy if I brought a big group to work on the trucks, something about liability or something like that

Not going to make it to AOP. My fiancée can’t get out of work that weekend and I don’t feel comfortable letting someone else watch my baby yet lol!

 

Dude I still don't and she's 5. There are very few I'd let watch my kid even when she was a baby.

 

You know I am in for a Mod day. Hell, if I could just get help with the rear the front will be easy enough to do on my own.

 

Dammit, I have a leaky front diff at the CV. Likely the seal that I did not replace, when I did the needle bearing / bushing swap. must have nicked the old seal, going in or out with the CV. @Bannerman have you noticed any drippages ?

Haha, I had noticed a drip drip here and there since I did the needle bearing. Went under last night to see oil sprayed all around where the CV goes into the diff. O well, 103000 miles on the original one, I should have swapped it when I did the bushing, but elected not too. There is no 50/50 chances with this stuff it seems. its like 90/10 against what you think should happen

good thing is, no skids in the way at this point, still

 

Put your skids back on, the oil is good rust prevention lol

I have not noticed but will check when I get back stateside. I’ll be really annoyed if I have to pull my skids again just for that seal!

 

So my truck has 143xxx miles on it and I’m starting to find out all kinds of work that needs done. Specifically, the needle bearing needs replaced, and I plan to get rid of my front spacer lift for some coil overs and install UCAs while I’m at it. I figure lower ball joints and TREs should be included while I’m at it. I am beginning to gather parts as we speak.

Any of you fine people know anyone they would recommend to do the front end work? Unfortunately I’m still in a rental house since moving down here and I don’t have a flat area to do the work, plus it’s technically in the lease that I won’t do “mechanic” work in the driveway.

 

Don't replace stuff unless it's bad. If you start replacing things because you're working in the vicinity you'll replace the entire truck.

 

This^^^ Doing your needle bearing I would suggest doing the seal (see Jimbo's post above). You don't have to just good practice. As far as doing LBJ, TREs, or anything else while you are doing your lift I wouldn't bother like Tim said it's a snowball effect. Outer tie rods turn into inners also which turn into rack then hoses then pump then belt then idler and tensioner pulleys. If those things aren't worn out don't replace them no need.

IIRC you can't buy these unless you buy the whole truck to go with it.
