Glad to see that things are still moving...maybe there is hope that I don't have to wait a month or so. lol

I ordered mine the night before he said the next shipment is ready to go out. I originally thought I had made it, but since I have not recieved a tracking number, I now think that I had not ordered in time.

Your post gives me hope that I could possibly see a tracking number by this weekend! Here's to hoping! :fingerscrossed: :D

    So checked on lunch... 85 was 2.29, 87 was 2.69 and 91 was 2.93.

so if you're going from 85-91 that's $.64 or $11 for 18 gal. but I thought we had to run 87... so that's what I ran

    87 tune must run 87+
    91 tune must run 91+

Don't use less than the number on the tune!

    The swing here is 40 - 60 cents/gallon. So for me it's roughly a $7 - $11 per tank increase.

    BTW - that's comparing 87 to 93 octane. Don't see 85 or 91 often.

Thanks. Around here we have 87, 89, and 93. I put 93 in the Tacoma and the Maxima, and 87 in the CRZ.

Didn't realize there was no improvement on the lower RPM ranges with 87 tune, I thought everything was simply "toned down". Did any of the timing and cam adjustments / refinements from 1.03C 91 made it to 87?

Now I am tempted to flash 91 to get the most out of the tune.....

    Whatever works!
Hmmmm, maybe I should look into building a dedicated OVTune micro system and sell it here. ;)

You don't want to know how much it costs in Hawaii...I think we are now starting at $3.50ish for 87

I'm not sure if this is true based on what @OVTune has mentioned.

91 tune is the only one that has changes made specifically for 91.

The 87 tune does not change ignition and timing so if the truck ran well stock on 85 then the 87 (aka regular gas tune) will run fine as well.

Gear shifting and throttle response have nothing to do with the octane being used safety wise.

Just my two cents, but you don't want to use less than the octane noted. The higher octane can handle the compression where the lower may ignite as it's being compressed. You could end up w/ knocking and possible engine damage. Now, we all know that folks put 87 when the engine calls for 91, so there is that argument, but I would never suggest running less than suggested octane even if it's 85 to 87, I'd still put 87 in.

You can easily go the other direction, though, but you're wasting money for no real gain.
