Ok so I went to a local off road company. They are saying that simple shock spacers up front and leaf spring block spacers along with a new shock setup in the rear would be fine and easy to do myself if im mechanically inclined. And that I will keep the factory feel of the truck suspension.

Blocks and spacers are the cheap way to do it. And I mean cheap in both low cost and poor quality. Yes they will get it up higher, but the ride quality will likely be stiffer. It however may suit your needs just fine. They are not for me, but I'm not you. Good luck in your endeavors. By-the-way you will also need new U-bolts and possibly extended brake lines.

It seems people just piggyback off of what is maybe 50 other members on here that say strut spacers are stiff and suck. Unless you have had them on your truck, saying they are more stiff than stock is just plain stupid. Just think about. If the strut spacer, which goes on top of the strut, just moves the strut down a couple inches but does not mess with the spring, how will it make the ride more stiff?

Your ride quality doesn't change with spacers. You are only higher up.

    So why not spacers then?

No reason not to. Unless you're going off road where you run the risk of bottoming out your shocks. And that most likely if you're going down a lot of crazy stuff.

Most people like to justify why they spent 3k on a coil over lift...but other than the select 3% of them that actually have that much axle articulation/off road heavily, they can't justify it. Therefore they dog on others who spend less. However, there are REAL disadvantages to spacers lifts, like weaker suspension in general due to adding another stress point, and less down travel on your shock. That being said, I'm sure that 95% of people that want to lift their vehicle a couple inches will be able to safely lift it using top of strut spacers and will live a long happy life going fishing/hunting/trail driving!
Blocks on the rear actually do cause spring stiffness, however.

A 1-1.5" block spacer in the rear is a slight stiffer ride, but barely. Strut spacers literally do not change ride quality.

My mistake, I thought he was looking for a 3" lift.

He is, but a combination AAL with a 1" block really should be okay when it comes to ride quality. Right?

I don't see any mention of add a leaf in his post. I assumed he meant 3" spacers and 3" blocks.

I'm starting to think that this local shop was implying that he level it with blocks? His original comments look like they are going in the AAL or new leaf pack direction, and then that post your quoted says blocks only, you're right. I'm going to go ahead and say a 3" block probably isn't worth the money you'll "save." A 3" block will definitely ride worse than stock, and noticeably. I think we agree on the rear block being bad if it's going to be 3".

A lot of people are not educated on what it takes to lift a vehicle, and A LOT of tacoma owners, on this site especially, are FIRST TIME BRAND NEW VEHICLE OWNERS. Therefore, speaking from experience, even if someone has a different color tacoma than mine, I want an answer that literally caters to my specific vehicle. If you choose not to answer, that's up to you, but making a comment like this literally serves no purpose. There are plenty of us on this site that don't mind answering the same questions, so how about you leave it to us, and continue on your way to a different thread.

What a moron. Dude is someone forcing you to reply? Do you really feel obligated to say something negative? Is it that hard to not reply to the post, and just move along if its something that bothers you? Are you having a bad day? You have have absolutely no good advice for OP so just move along.

Ok so I’m hearing 3 is slightly too high to not spend a lot so 2 1/2 spacers and blocks should help me get bigger tires under the truck so I can go off road camping beach days fishing etc here in Hawaii without altering the factory ride. I like the factory ride just need some clearance so I don’t bang up my undercarriage. Why would blocks add stiffness?

Add a leaf in the back sounds nice but alters the factory nice ride
