I had a stone put a hole in one of my tires today! WTF??!! This is a brand new TRD OR with Kevlar blah, blah, blah. I've only been on pavement with it, not even a dirt road and a little stone punctures one? These sure must be great for anyone off-roading with them.

I quickly got dropped by Good Year when I called them using the number on my warranty papers that came with the truck.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so, what did you do? Good Year clearly wants to simply sell them and not go good on what is obviously a piece of crap tire.

I ran over some sort of metal bracket right after getting mine. Looked like an L bracket or something with sharp corners. Thought I'd blow the tire right there but it's still fine. Luck of the draw I guess. No idea if there is any sort of road hazard warranty with the truck but when I buy tires at Discount I get that.

Unless the tire is F'd, just driver over to a Les Schwab or Discount tire, have the puncture patched for free and don't worry about it. I don't think I broke 1000 miles on my truck before I had a flat. Took them forever to find what caused it, it was a tiny 1mm wide by 1cm long flat piece of metal that worked it's way through my tire. Put a lot more miles on those rugged fails, without another flat.

if its in the sidewall, youre f#cked. they normally only get torn up by operator error. if its inbetween the tread, you may be ok through warranty. but don't bullshit us please.

shit happens stop bitching and blaming the tire just get a new one.

I ran 20k miles on the goodyears before upgrading, about 2-3k miles hard offroad everything from Baja to the high sierras, from 12psi in the sand to 42psi on ice.

For OEM tires they're actually quite good. Nothing is going to beat a set of choice upgrade tires but for stock can't complain at all.

Here's a dirty little secret of the tire industry as well: the oem tires are NOT the same as the tires you'd buy retail even if its the same model #. The OEM issued ones NEVER last as long, mine were almost toast at only 20k miles and that was not unexpected as I ran the shit out of them and again.... can't expect much from oem tires.

I've seen a stick go through a Kevlar M/T tire. Stuff happens.

What do you mean "don't bullshit us please"? It's not the sidewall it's right in the middle of the tread.

When I called the number on the warranty paper they were very quick to basically tell me to go piss up a rope.

Well no shit road hazard isn't covered by warranty, thats something you buy when you purchase retail tires.

If a stone cracked your windshield would you be mad they didn't cover it under warranty?? Its the same situation. And I've seen posts just like that "a rock cracked my window! It must be the window's fault! POS thin windows toyota is cheaping out" blah blah blah

You honestly don't even know if it was just a little stone or if that was just what was left... and you wouldn't be the first person to shred a tire and "swear" it was just a pebble. They've heard it all bro sorry... just eat the $150 and get a new tire and be on your way! Shit happens.

OK. Has anyone had this problem or not? I'm really not in the mood to read posts by "people" suggesting that it was my fault. It was a small stone, middle of tire and on pavement.

Sheesh! Get over it. Tires get flats all the time. I've had all kinds of shit puncture a tire over the years and I've had tires that ran down to the belts and refused to go flat. Get it fixed or look at it as an opportunity to upgrade.

some of this, a little of that
I saw a golfball puncture the tread of a tire when I worked in a shop in high school, no doubt a rock could do it. I'd call the dealership and just ask if they can help you out on this one since it is so new, if that doesn't work you'll have to buy a new one.

If the hole is repairable have it patched and proceed with life.

If patches or plugs make you nervous, swap it and your spare.

Life's too short to get spun up over bad luck with a $150 tire on a $35k truck

I never have old worn out tires get punctured, it always seems to happen right after buying a new car, or new tires. Never fails.

2 questions for you number one I don't think any Toyota off-road sport or SR5 come with Goodyear Kevlar tires I could be mistaken but I do not think so is this a used truck?

Second of all do you know if there. Or E rated tires and where did The Rock puncture the tire in the treading or in the sidewall?
