Goodyear did this to me on a new Mazda car when I lived in California back in the 80s and car only had like 5k miles on it and hit a small rock in the road and it completely separated the tire almost like to was a cap tire we use on our big trucks. Took it to tire shop in Hollywood that was a good year dealer and he called them and told them and they would not replace and said it was road hazard, I listened to the guy tell them no it is not it should not do this on new tire. they refused. Never had another goodyear tire since and if I buy a new vehicle if they have goodyear I make them change them in deal up front and refuse to run them today. By the way I went back by that tire shop a week later and he dropped Goodyear after my ordeal. He said they did that too often and it wasn't good for his business. Everyone can have a bad tire just warranty it!

Mine have 15k on them with some good aired down offroad miles over snow, ice, rocks, roots, mud and gravel. No real issues except for the sidewalls getting visible dents in them. Every tire has at least 2. If one of them blew I’d use that as an excuse to upgrade. If you think their load rating/traction/comfort/noise level etc meets your needs, may as well get a new one, or plug what you’ve got. I would never use a patch though, and not even think about repairing it if the puncture is in the sidewall

I see 18 wheeler tires with rocks in them. Ive seen stick go through 18 wheelers tires. I have saw same thing with passenger vehicle tires. That can happen at any time. Just has to get just right. Ive done it myself.

I had about 20K miles on my Kevlar Adventures, including some rocky Death Valley stuff, and got a rapid air pressure loss on one tire. Put on the spare, took it to Les Schwab (only tire shop for 40 miles in Eastern Oregon) and it was a pluggable rock cut in the tread. That tire never leaked again. Another GY started leaking slowly at around 35K, local Wheel Works plugged it, held well till I bought new LT load range E tires at 45K. So I was a little disappointed, but about $40 in tire repairs over 45K miles seems pretty good to me. I don’t think any tire shop will plug a tire they didn’t sell, for free. And no tire manufacturer warrants OEM tires against road hazard.

I am usually not one to buy the tire and wheel protection plans, but I did on my wife's Rav4 because they have been doing lots of construction on our street. Twice now she has picked up a nail and a screw on separate occasions. Brought it in, they patched the bad tire, we got to enjoy a complimentary ICEE while waiting, and we were on our way.
It sucks for that to happen, but a rock/stone/nail, whatever, is a road hazard and no matter what tire company it is, that is not a warranty issue.

I had one of the stock Firestones blow out on the highway. It was a catastrophic sidewall failure at 10k miles. There was nothing in the tire and I didn't hit anything (back left tire went, was traveling in a straight line when it happened).

Ended up with KO2s. I didn't trust the factory tires after that. Just not worth my family's safety. I'm a bit disappointed, but I love the new tires.

Those Wranglers sure are a magnet for random stuff. Either that or my luck has really gone downhill. Only ever had one flat prior and now I managed to lose a battle with a self-tapping screw and a little piece of metal in a 3 month period. On the bright side, I've become a pro at dropping the spare and learned to have the tpms screen as the home screen on the instrument cluster. Rolled over 28k miles last weekend and finally threw in the towel and ordered a new set of tires so hopefully they'll fair a bit better.

I had a rock pierce my OEM OR Kevlar tire also. Or at least I'm pretty sure it was a rock. Was driving on Forest Service roads, got home and tire was going flat. Hole right in the middle of the tread. Replaced em all with Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws after that bullshit.
