Ive had the same problem as everyone else with buying the 18 pro grill. I need a pro vin etc, etc. I know you can get a Chinese one on eBay for about $150 and they’re all made of plastic whether it’s OEM or a knockoff but I rather have an original Toyota part. I found a 17 oem grill on Amazon for about $340. A bit more expensive than the 18 but better than buying a 17 from the dealer for $500. I was able to purchase the garnish for my sensor. The 17 grill does have a removable piece at the bottom where the garnish would go. The hard part was removing the top two prongs that attach the removable piece to the grill itself. Once off, the garnish clips right in. The only hard part is figuring how to keep the top two prongs on the garnish flush with the grill. U can use the same two washer type rings that secured the removable piece but it’s a bit difficult to manipulate because they are made of some strong metal. It took a little while but I got it to work. Reconnected the sensor and works perfectly. No errors ever. I’ve been driving it for about a week and everything works fine including lane departure and cruise control. It works. Might be easier with the Chinese grill but I don’t mind paying a bit more for a genuine Toyota part.

Good info. I may go the same route if the 18 grille's remain out of reach.

Just FYI the OEM grille is actually reduced even more now. Good info though. There have been a few different threads regarding this conversion. Glad u got it working properly.

One question, did u use the plastic cover to protect the sensor?

I removed the plastic removable part that the pro grill came with. I replaced it with the garnish that protects the sensor. You can purchase the garnish from any Toyota dealership or Amazon/eBay if you’re lucky. Price is anywhere between $60 and $90 from what I’ve seen. I got mine for $80. If you use just the plastic part that the 17pro came with, the sensor is still exposed and may not work properly.
