I recently replaced my front speakers and now going to replace my rear too(once my rear adapters come in), just some simple Pioneer 3way TS-A Series speakers front and rear.

The OEM Tweeter is still installed, Even with the new front speakers it sounds like nothing has changed. Quality wise no difference, those OEM tweeters sounds like crap.

I am thinking the front tweeters with the built in capacitor thingy or whatever it is, is not allowing the new front speakers to fully utilize its 3 way capacity.

Should I remove the front OEM Tweeter altogether? Wire up so I just run off the main door speakers? Maybe it'll sound much better that way?

I'm not a big audio guy but I would like some nicer sounding speakers compare to the stock ones which always leaves you wanting a more clear crisp sound, I am disappointed with my current results. I think removing the OEM tweeters altogether would improve my sound? What do you guys think?

The factory "Tweeter" is a small POS full range. Replace it with a real tweeter. You will need to add a blocking cap. The OEM tweeter is not messing up your new system. Are you still using the OEM headunit? My guess, the new speakers require more power than the OEM headunit can supply.

Yes I'm still using the OEM headunit, I don't feel like changing it anytime soon since I'm saving for a new set of coilovers/shocks and leaf-pack. I got a few sheets of that Noico sound deadening stuff that I'll be using inside the doors and on the outside sheet metal panel to help.

I have notice that the OEM tweeters did produce a full-range. I would hate to add a small amp to help power the new speakers. I'm going to disconnect the OEM tweeter and wire it with just the door speakers alone, if it sounds better I'll keep it that way, if not I'll order new tweeters and go from there. Thanks for the information about the blocking cap.

Looks like new tweeters are to be ordered.

Please keep us updated. I just replaced my speakers with the pioneers also. I HATE those tweeters.

I tried it without the OEM Tweeters and it didn't sound any better, in fact I thought it sound a bit worst without them. My adapters come in from Amazon in a few days so I'll be installing the rears. At this moment I'm still debating on which tweeters to buy. I am going to cut the OEM tweeter wires and use them to attach to the new tweeter thus preventing me from cutting the original door harness.

I've been told you can't just install a new set of tweeters. You have to also install a crossover for them to work properly. Any thoughts?

Almost correct. I don't know what you told the mis-informing stereo advisor.

From what I can determine you have a 2015 Tacoma and want to retrofit already purchased 3 ways ("just some simple Pioneer 3way TS-A Series speakers front and rear"), assuming this is true, they will have their own x-over. Also assuming you will use the factory wire harness. Fine, install the new 3 way speakers as is, according to mfgs installation instructions.

Next; to install a stand alone tweeter. As previously stated "You will need to add a blocking cap." Toyota just installs a small stand alone full range, this eliminates the need for any x-over. The new stand alone tweeter will be optimized for high frequencies, thus it will need to be protected from the low frequencies, this is the job of the blocking capacitor, also know as bass blocker.

Your stereo advisor who told you need an XOVER does not understand that you are going to throw away the low freq information going to the tweeter, and thus do not need a full xover network. A simple 2 way xover is composed of a "low pass" circuit and a "high pass" circuit. The blocking cap is a very simple "high pass" circuit. You do not need the "low pass" circuit, and thus do not need a full xover.

I ended up buying Memphis PR something 3.5in 2 way speakers to replace the tweeters, I didn't want to deal with finding the correct bass blocker if I was to just go with tweeters alone. I modified the bracket to allow installation of the Memphis speakers. It sounds great now, highs hit really nice and mids are definitely much more clear. I sound deaden the entire door panel inside and out, no rattles.

I have yet to do the rears, I started replacing the tweeters late in the day and it just got too dark to finish up. Now though, I feel I may be in the market for a subwoofer as it just sounds incomplete without that nice thump, I just hate to lose storage space considering there really is no room for that sub.

Used OEM harness to install the small 3.5in speaker, works great_ No hassle with crossovers or bassblockers. I'm not a big audio guy, just want a little bit nicer sound and I'm happy. Total cost for me ended up being a little higher than I wanted it to be.

About 220 bucks it cost me in total, speakers, adapters, sound deadening material, speaker wire adapters.
