I spotted this truck in a grocery store parking lot while on vacation almost 4 years ago! It even had air-conditioning!

This truck has an automatic transmission, and if you look closely, you will see that the shifter is mounted on the dash...

WHY CAN I ONLY LIKE ONCE?!?!
The dash shifter came on the Sweptlines from '65-68; prior to that they used a push-button unit and after that they went to a column shift for the automatics. The hood and grille put this truck as a 68, so the last year that the dash shifter was equipped.
It's funny that they polished the grille; usually on an unrestored truck like that they let it cloud up. Interesting touch.

Also interesting- The 'Vinyl Roof' option on these trucks wasn't actually vinyl; it was just textured paint. At the time it was viewed as being a cheap cop-out, but considering the rust issues that vinyl roofs have caused for a lot of 60's-era vehicles (and the tendency of these specific trucks to rust) it may actually have been a clever idea. :notsure:

1993 Ford F150 XLT flareside 2WD Mark III conversion, with only 8,400 original miles! 5.0L V8/automatic, but sadly it's got an open rear and only has 3.08 gears...

I have ask; Why would you order a truck fully loaded like this and NOT get at least a limited-slip rear differential?!?! If you don't want to get a posi, at least get 3.42 gears, or even 3.73s! My uncle ordered a new Ford Ranger XLT in 1994, with 3.0L V6, 5-speed stick, and 3.42 posi rear...

Regardless, this is still obviously one of the best-preserved examples of a 1992-1996 F150 that I have ever seen!

FUN FACT: I'm more of a Chevy/GMC guy, but I know a thing or two about Fords as well!

Obviously, this is a preserved show queen and the owner has the original window sticker. However, if there is no window sticker to go by (which there usually is not) one guaranteed way to tell a 1992-1993 F150 apart from a 1994-1996 model is by looking at the steering wheel. 1992-1993 models, like this one, did not have a driver's airbag. 1994-1996 models came standard with a driver's airbag. HD pickups were not required to have airbags until like 2000, so it is a bit harder to guess the model year on F250s and F350s...

I thought there was something in there besides a Ford Escort ZX2?

FYI though, those were pretty damn good cars, especially the stick shift versions!

Living proof of how durable the naturally-aspirated diesel V8s in these older Fords were (and still are)!
