In more positive news, I drove 175 miles between 35mph and 75mph and never touched a thing but the steering.

I'll admit that the adaptive CC on the Corolla I drove for two and a half months waiting for my rear diff seepage to be fixed was really nice. I'd set it on 90 behind the fastest traveler and chill until my exit. All that said, I'm glad I have a '17 without it after reading of issues on the roll out on the Tacoma.

What happens when this system slams on the brakes when the road is icey or has snow on it? I believe that could cause a crash....... Does it make a difference if it’s a MT or an Auto???

Didn’t even know TSS was new on the 2018 Tacomas. I’m not a fan of it at all for many other safety reasons like if your brakes suddenly lock up in snow or heavy rain with a lot of traffic.

My truck is a 2017 MT AC Sport.

Can TSS be disabled on the new trucks?

It’s in the dash menu. You can turn down sensitivity for good, but will have to turn TSS off each key cycle if you want it off or just simply turn traction control off and that disables TSS

I hear u.... But the brakes slamming at highway speeds is dangerous... U gotta understand that fact. Sure nothing is perfect, but worse things could definitely stem from the brakes being applied aggressively when not needed.

Yes. It’s safety equipment and should work perfect right off the bat.

Safety system that can make the vehicle less safe. Sometimes you just have to smile and shake your head.

Well damn, I guess I misread the TSS brochure at the dealership. I thought the TSS-P that our trucks have was strictly an "Alert" system and would not interfere with gas/brake/steering controls. I am very much against the car overtaking any of the 3 major controls for exactly the kind of issues the OP is having.

My truck is only 1mo old and I haven't used the cruise control yet nor have I experienced any issues with TSS. Since doing my lift, I have noticed that my PCS has turned off a couple times for some reason.

TSS will not engage if the sensor in the grill gets covered up ( read: mud, snow, ice, fog, heavy rain) basically what we have is radar to detect things in front of the truck and if it can't be used it turns itself off, can't even use cruise control in any of those conditions..it does offer an alert if you have it turned on except for the front radar will beep if it you come up behind someone to fast because they're going to slow ( ask me how i know) ... for all intensive purposes it works for what it's intended for... is it smart enough to know what you're intentions are while driving? no. its a computer at the end of the day and even computers have faults.. hopefully if mine ever does lock em down on the interstate the person behind me is paying attention or has good insurance

It does not "slam on the brakes" when you are at highway speeds. It will completely shut off and let you take control if you so much move the steering wheel or apply brake/gas pedal pressure. I have this on my 18 tundra. People are exaggerating entirely too much and need to stop.
Should work perfect right of the bat eh? Please let toyota know you have all the answers to lifes problems and you can make everything work perfect for them right off the bat

you need to have the TSS re-calibrated at the dealer. simple procedure of plug and play.

Eh.. mine has only engaged brakes at very slow speeds, and beeps a lot. Rather annoying since I'm already pushing the brakes, feels as if its pushing them harder than needed.

So the cruise control can’t be used when the system is turned off, or only when it turns itsself off?

Hey man, I don’t lose any sleep over this issue, but I can’t stand people who waste their time telling everyone to lower their expectations. Shouldn’t you belong in a Chrysler forum or something?
