Nature of things did a comparison. Shea Weber was a good ten mph slower with wood but he was using a replica of what Bobby Hull used. Eberle was exaggerating, I only started using composites in my last year of playing but I'm pretty sure he could still shoot with a good ol' 5030.

I don't think you can compare the different generations but Ovie certainly is the best pure scorer of this generation and Sid's by far the best player. What do you think Gretz would've been like with the training and equipment of today? Sure the numbers wouldn't be as high as they were but they'd still likely dwarf his colleagues just as they did in the day. Speaking of Gretz, Gary Suter severely effected the last years of his career with that cheep hit from behind. Can't believe he never had to pay the piper for that and the crosscheck to the face on Kariya (never the same after it). Yeah I'm bitter.

I still think Wayne dominates, if you put him in modern times. And I only used Mario instead of Wayne in my posts, just because I think Mario had to work a little harder to create space for himself and had less talent around him. But the same thing applies when comparing to Ovi. Gretz is a super hero no matter where you put him, just the gap wouldn't be as big as it was in his time. I still have a hard time calling Ovi a better pure scorer than either 99 or 66. Mainly because if you score 70% of your goals with a wrister/clapper from the left circle. And that is not a dig on Ovi at all. I'm a huge fan and I give him huge props (and that it coming from a Pens fan). He is for sure the best scorer in modern NHL and 1 of the top all-time.

Considering they are missing half the strting roster it wasn’t all that bad. Copp was a wrecking ball.

It sure would be nice to get Lowry, Scheiffle, Stastny, Trouba, Kulikov and Mason back though. We’ve been seeing too much of the prospects lately.

Lemieux was more talented than Gretz imo. As far as surrounding talent, seemed to me Lemieux played with pretty skilled dudes. I think one of them just recently just left the game:).

Pens teams pre-1990 were pretty bad-to-average but Mario still put up 199pts. So yes, the Cup years and forward, the teams were stacked, no doubt.

Ferraro listed his top three all time goal scorers:

    1 - Hull
    2 - Bossy
    3 - Ovechkin

Didn't include Gretz or Mario cuz they're just the best period.

Worked quite well actually. Now that the Oilers are toilet bound, again. It's all about keeping the fLamers out of the playoffs. So I was actually hoping the sharkies would win. In true Oilers fashion.....that was a reality!

Sometimes the lottery isn't too kind anyways, so might as well win a few down the stretch.
